What is going on with this housing?

Every player that ever had any interest in housing knows theres a housing shortage.

Most are aware of the autodemolition timer, which although opinions on it differ, we all agree it exists and its now active. Some are aware it has resulted in homes demo'd due to inactive players - some of which return to the game.

So we end up with removing players that did obtain housing for themselves from their housing because of shortages, to now because of new restrictions in place there are hundreds of houses across the servers already that are VACATED and cannot be purchased. Is an fc really going to head to a goblet subdivision to pick up a small house? Individuals certainly would.

I'm a big fan of this game in the relatively short time i played. The fact that housing has been such a premium commodity for so long and now we leave housing vacant due to restrictions - not because we solved the problem mind - puts me in complete shock with how disconnected the playerbase and developers are.

All of these loopholes in the system now in place, but the ones that ARE restricted? Players who do not own a house - most never have.

I gotta say even i am disappointed. We use the terms "fair and square " but we turn around and restrict people who do not have housing from obtaining it - when its available and vacated.

This is more of a transitional period. Multi home owners are basically locked out from acquiring any new homes, and precautions have been added to discourage house flipping. Lets also look at the mysterious settings/rules they haven't released any details about. Most everything's locked down right now due to needless adolescent entitlement and good old fashioned American greed combined with a outdated housing system that was plagued from the start. Just have to wait a week or two see what happens after the FC and relocate only stuff is finished. As far as auto demolition goes its a necessary part of a persistent housing system. Without auto demo a lot of homes would have been abandoned for years at this point.

So, to make a more succinct statement:

Because, right now, their best (albeit equally confusing) course of action was to prioritize FC housing. And its baffling that anyone would value less a plot just by its ease of access or notoriety, when your current main concern is availability.

Especially when the major argument for FC's first is the workshop facilities and rooms for members. These same people (FC's) will hold out for a large and when they don't get one will then start complaining about fairness again.

I want to be clear - i am ALL FOR the autodemolition timer. In fact, im concerned it was off for so long. The problem i have with this logic is this:

Why would we kick out inactive players - that might want their house - for the reason of house shortages... Then also have all these now vacated plots with interested buyers, but restrictions prevent their use? The two situations do not support the same ideas and logic. Quite the opposite.

Because they are warned that after a period of time they will lose their house. It's the ingame ToS. Also, iirc, they get back 80% of their investment and most of their furnishings.*

Because they consider the priority should be FCs. A FC can "house" multiple people who can use rooms (That work just like apartments). Who (for the most part) will share the building (just like apartments) with the added benefits of Workshops (and other due experiments) that would benefit a group (just like apartments).

Yes this is a bit of a duality in the system but this is what happens when a situation like this is allowed to get so far out of hand for so long. Everyone gets punished but the ones that get grandfathered in, and eventually those have to be dealt with as well.

Why/ how do they need to get "dealt with"? They didn't do anything wrong. Instead of limiting housing to 1/1, SE should let every character own housing. Though that won't ever happen with the ward system, and for some unknown reason SE doesn't want to do instanced homes (even though they had them in ffxi from what I understand). I personally think it would be really cool to be able to go into Revenant's Toll, Idyllshire, any of the main cities, and a maybe a few cool scenic, secluded places and be able to have an instanced house there.

I appreciate the response, but i am well aware of the individual reasons for each rule there.

That is not how one comes up with quality resolutions to issues though. You cannot simply list each problem on a piece of paper, write a solution for each, and execute them. Though both solution do solve their respective problems in theory, if appied at the same time as is in game, they work against each other.

Its like me saying "im cold" then you say "turn the heat on"
A month later "my bills are expensive" then you say "turn the heat off"

Both valid solutions individually, but nothing addresses the if/then relationship between the bills and the heat. A different solution would be needed if i desired to solve both problems at once.
