Promotion problem

Hi,
I'm a returning player. I stopped playing somewhere during ARR made it far into the MSQ back then, however, I did not progress far with the GC hunt logs and I stopped at the 2nd log. Yesterday I decided to check out the hunt board and I found out that it is locked behind the quest "Let the Hunt Begin (Flames)" the quest requires the rank of Second Flame Lieutenant, my character is a rank below that so I was like okay let's go and rank up. In order to rank up, I was required to finish the 2nd GC hunt log and be assigned a trial by the GC commander. I went and finished the log, then went back and spoke to the commander in order to pick up the trial but he had nothing for me. I Googled the problem and the solution was simply doing the MSQ, but in my case, I've already progressed in the MSQ way past it and I have done the "trial dungeons" and on top of that, I have used a story skip potion. so this is my problem, I can't qualify for a promotion and I can't access the hunt board. :<
