As of now, and since 2.0, the search.info is in the middle of the screen and can not be move. It should be failry easy to add the Layer to the HUD and make it moveable to any given position.
The function itself requires some modification, esp. since it doesnt even show you where
the items are stored - only how many of em you might have.

It does list the location of the searched item in your chat log but... yeah... have fun with that if your chat log is any smaller than the one you have pictured.
I'd like to add to your suggestion the error text. Or more simply, why are there UI elements that CAN'T be manipulated? -
