Updating Triple Triad

Alltho i dont play TT that much other then the occasional attempt at getting more cards for my collection, with the increasing numbers of cards that never gets used because of deck limitations etc.

What about updating TT to be able to fit bigger boards and bigger decks?

It would allow for more customisable games aswell as maybe even allow players to use those cards thats just collecting dust.

I still think they should have gone with Tetra Master instead of Triple Triad

The best card game within a game that I have played was Gwent from Witcher 3. Played that almost as much as I've played the Witcher 3. But...highly doubt we'll get a card game system like that here.

I would support bigger decks, though. Being restricted to 5 cards for a round feels a bit underwhelming nowadays.

Except they already did that with FFXI (okay so Tetra Master was not actually built into FFXI but simply bundled with FFXI/PlayOnline Viewer as a separate game with an independent subscription), and as it was not very popular with players sadly (the separate sub was a sticking point, and only really saw a flurry of activity when FFXI was down for server maintenance, I thought it was fun though and a nice change of pace from when FFXI annoyed me too much), little wonder they went with FFVIII's Triple Triad this time around.

The existing board size is actually how the game was originally designed in FFVIII, it's a fundamental aspect of it (the only thing SE really changed for it here in FFXIV was that you thankfully don't lose 'flipped' cards if you lose a match, and they toned down the stupid regional play rules that were forever the bane of many a TT player's existence in FFVIII, instead allowing rules to be agreed upon between players or having rules differ between NPC challengers). Hence I don't see SE changing it at all.

Personally I'd be happy with them porting pretty much all the mini games from the series into XIV, even Sphere Break in spite of my utter hatred for it. Just give me more reason to be at the Gold Saucer and give us better rewards for our time there. I feel like we haven't gotten anything truly substantial in over a year. Put Interns on it if you can't set aside money and make it their project with the team during their time there.

What they really need to do is change the deck-limitations - a full 5-star-deck should obviously never possible but currently all 4-star-cards are useless, aswell as pretty much all 1 and 2 star cards never see the light of day (except when you're playing Reverse...)

This suggestion has been made before but might aswell be repeated here: A simple way to change that would be to give us a maximum amount of stars a deck is allowed to contain. Currently this amount is 17 by using four 3-star-cards and one 5-star according to the limitations we have - lifting those an instead saying "Not more than 17 stars" would allow for a lot more flexibilty and use of cards that you normally wouldnt (like using three 4-star cards and then one 1-star and one 2-star)

If we're talking about card games they should just do FFTCG. . granted ya that is a lot more work than games that just use numbers and basic additional effects to them.

Aye i am aware that this is how it was originally (more or less) but theres nothing wrong with adding the ability for more customisaton when playing TT with another player, it would also allow more cards to be useful when your able to make bigger decks.

All of this would of course be optional as the 3x3 5 deck setup would still be there.

I still haven't played that in FFX-2. I need to try it out. I usually enjoy the mini-games.
