My 5 cents on Apartments

Hi,

The thing with apartments at the moment is that they lack the houses' 'neighbourly' feeling. I have a few suggestions. I am not sure if SE ever considered them, but I might as well try to post it here. Players more than welcome to share their thoughts <3

1) A rooftop hang out terrace that is more interactive/cozy than the lobby OR work on the lobby.

2) As the room is instanced and looks pretty much the same everywhere (size-wise, window-wise), there should also be an instanced balcony. OR the room should just be expanded to have a balcony with a sliding door in between. A small space for a bench and a gardening pot (tm) would be such a refreshment to otherwise prison-like rooms.

Theres a lot they could do with Apartments.

If they want the neighborhood feel, they could yes create a courtyard where the MB and things are located instead.(and remove aetherytes, MB, and bell from teh front). The Apartments could be divided up by floors, so lets say 10-20 rooms on a floor, so you walk into a floor and go to your room from there.

Apartments could also come in 3 distinct tiers. Tier 1 is as it is now. Tier 2 has a small balcony. Tier 3 has a larger balcony. Balconies overlook the courtyard or some wilderness area, and Balconies can be sued to place outdoor housing things. Though ultimately it would have to be less than a house. So a Tier 3 Apartment maybe only gets to place 10 outdoor items, compared to a cottage which ahs 20 items. And of course there may be restrictions on the items you can place (No aetheryte, or stable, or etc.)

Though to be frank, in regards to housing in general, they need to add to it more means of wanting one. So having an apt/house gives more rested exp or special rested exp. Or perhaps crafting is a little bit faster in a house, or something. There needs to be more reasons to spend money on a house/apt.

I'd rather have larger apartments instead of an outside area. But that's just me. Either an inside the same size as a small house, or just a larger single room. I mean, there are flats in real life that can take up an entire floor. A larger interior would make me a happy kitty.

apartments with an outside area are no different than your regular housing wards >_<

I think they could have done it where there are multiple sizes, similar to how the houses are. Increase in price if you want a larger apartment. And allow more things too(like more of the NPCs). It would be nice if they did that for us.

Apartments could be so much more

"Deluxe" apartments which are basically a mansion inside would be amazing.

I'd like some internal storage but I don't care about the outside of the house and whatnot.

Deluxe apartments would fix that...

apartments are just not very attractive and that they split them over the housing districts means less people per house, so less people to meet.

we already have the entrance hall wich could be a place to meet the neighbours - maybe you have forgotten that this thing exists, since we always just skip over it...

so my suggestion for a better neighbourhood feeling:

remove the entrance hall "instance" and make the entrance hall part of the housing distict map.

so no loading screen when entering the entrance hall from outside. and no skipping over the entrance hall.

my other suggestion would be to merge all the apartment houses into only one and remove it from the housing district to put it directly into the main citys. so there would only be 4 houses left, maybe 5 with Ishgard...

That would make them very central and a lot more popular. There is a lack of housing as it is, so why not advertise apartment a bit more? I mean, more than half of them is empty.

Housing at this moment is just a gil sink for a selected few it seems like. Or for those who get lucky enough to grab a plot and then they sit on an empty house/garden forever.

I'd totally go for a penthouse suite kinda apartment, or really anything larger than the current room size, my apartment right now is little more than a stuffy trophy room/storage room. Regular housing is too pricey and limited right now for me to even dream of being a homeowner.
