Pet battles and pet collection

Are we ever going to see pet battles like in world of warcraft? It would be nice to have pets scattered around the maps in game and have to capture them and challange different pet trainers. Lord verminion is pretty boring and takes a lot of time, i'm not suggesting that ffxiv should copy WoW but at least have something like in the game World of Final Fantasy, which just released on PC not long ago.
Also, what about having a pet collection tab that shows all the pets that you have and the ones you don't own already? As a completitionist, that would make it cool.

I'm a completionist too, and the fact I couldn't get all the minions would really irritate me as I'd be constantly reminded of it.
I love the idea of pet battles :) I try to play verminion, I don't know if it's a ps4 thing with the controller, but I'm just not fast enough moving around the map.

The problem with such an idea is that there are some minions that are now forever unattainable, the ones that were offered as a bonus with merchandise such as the soundtrack albums, artbooks and plushies, or a bonus for preordering the game or expansions before launch. Yes SE could always add such minions like the Wind-up Dalamud to the Mogstation for those who missed out on them, but it would then cheapen the whole point of including them with merchandise in the first place (their exclusivity).

So any hypothetical battle system with minions would have to have some way of balancing all minions, so that no one minion is 'stronger' than the rest (as lets face it, any such battle system would inevitably result in 'find the strongest one and rely on that exclusively'). Clearly Lords of Verminion was an attempt to try and get around that, but it kind of missed the mark sadly.

Either way, sadly I do not see SE adding a Pokemon style system for the minions, as because of certain minions exclusivity, it would mean having to carefully balance the strength of all of them so that no one is stronger than the other, which, kind of makes for dull gameplay sadly.
