Bards and music
So today I unlocked the ability to play music with my bard, only I am then told I'm forbidden to play any 3rd party music and there's been many reports since the ability was added of players being banned for playing 3rd party music and even some FFXIV music (which isn't even made clear in the instructions when you accept the terms from the NPC in Gridania that you can't play certain FFXIV music.)
So what does that mean? Am I allowed to play We Wish You A Merry Christmas or will I be banned?
What about 3rd party music where we've been given permission by the authors to make our own versions?
And lastly, what is the point? We've been given the ability to play music on an instrument and then told we can't play music on it. If we can't play music then what can we play? And if it's such a major concern that people are getting banned for playing music then why did SE bother adding the ability in the first place? I can't help but get the feeling that SE's playing a big joke on us.

I think you can play almost everything, just like it is not against the law to play covers without permission unless you are sharing it offline/online, making money off it, or getting publicity off of it save for a few SE songs. Since services like youtube have monetization, sharing there would be copyright infringement.
So what are the 3 new instruments being added?
Hopefully we get piano, violin, acoustic guitar, and drums. ;)

The "do not play third-party music" clause is SE covering their ass in case of potential lawsuits by opportunistic record labels or parasite lawyers. There's no covert network of GMs scouring the game for people playing a jingle bells harp cover. Think of it like the official policy regarding parsers - don't publicise it and you'll be fine.

More instrument ? Yay !
I hope they are percussion and wind instrument types,
Now we just need a way to sync-start the party of performers and some sort of sheet/script music an we can have real bands.

You can play it, just don't upload it. This was all hashed out here.

ok, whew! Just as long as using an in-game option with an in-game item isn't going to get me banned for doing something the game allows me to do by design.

If SE is going to be so squeamish about it. Then id rather see it gone. And it seems that all we need to do to make that happen is having a handfull of people play wonderwall at the same time.
