While the Glamour Revision is welcomed - I feel like its missing the mark

I do realise this is exceptionally early into these proposed changes but I feel like they're missing the point a bit.

The point is - many players like collecting sets.

The glamour commodes will allow us to save a few outfits things sure but people go back to farm for glamour to complete sets.

I feel like they really could have bought old content back to life for new players if they gave us a chance to complete a glamour log book. It could have been fun, had rewards, and absolutely given reason to running 100s of times through 24 man's and raid content.

Just to be clear its nice to see them addressing limited retainer and inventory space and giving us a "Favourites" type system for glamour. 200 spaces seems incredibly low for 4 years of glamour, however.

I wish it could have been so much more.

This game has beautiful art, beautiful and weird fashion and it sucks handing it in / deleting it all every major patch. I dunno, I had hope a glamour log would have been one more fun thing to do in the down time. How is everyone else feeling?

Still doesn't address the issue of multiple jobs having the same glamour either.

My current presumption is that the "Ensemble" system works outside the regular glamour system.
Thus one could apply a regular glamour to your equipment for one Job, and then layer an Ensemble over another that shares equipment with it. That's how I'm assuming it works anyway.

I don't really understand what is they're doing and why they felt it was better than the glamour log that pretty much everyone is begging for.

Exactly. Glamour log: open glamour window and instead of seeing what you have in your bags you see a list of all gear items you've ever owned. No new UI or system needed.

While I think it is a step in the right direction, it clearly seems rather unfinished to me, like they are still testing it out. Also, the item limit is, as others have mentioned, way too low.

A limit of 200 per category is something that would be more suited for the amount of gear we collect. It also is weird that the item is immediately destroyed, if you take it out of the glamour dresser, its gone forever. This combined with the total limit of 200 items is questionable at best.

I'm glad they're doing something, but it seems like it's just going to be another glamour system that needs more revisions down the line.

After watching it I am also not sure how it completely functions and what this will mean for the old glamour system? I mean its a good start and better than nothing but I really hope that they will increase 200 over time. (First I thought that this was 200 per slot but it was max amount) And you kinda need 200 prism for this too.

It seems that according to someone that understands Japanese they did say that the old system would still be in place, that you can have multiple glamours on role-shared gear and that you somehow can still retrieve items that you put there. Well if that is true this would at least put some of my concerns to rest. Still not sure if you can use one glamour with both systems and I still hope that they will increase the limit over time.

You don't understand the limitation of resources then. The same reason why the new 70 inventory choco bag can't do the things you can do with a regular inventory. Resource management. They were able to add 70 slots by disabling access to it in instances, being unable to craft, deliver, sell, etc with said items. That means instead of potentially adding 25 slots that may not of have restrictions they were able to add more with restrictions.

In that same respect, 200 pieces of information isn't easy to keep an eye on, so they have to find shorthands to allow access to said information. One way is using non-combatant locations to switch from, this means there is less data being accessed in said location so they were able to do 200 items.

When you are in an inn, it's just you by yourself, the game doesn't need to access any other data like using abilities, crafting, delivering items etc. Since the game doesn't need to allocate that data they can use said data to store the commode of gear you want to use.

Similar when switching to an Ensemble, you have 10 options, because this is just transferring the visual design of your character they were able to branch out areas in which you can access this being towns, residential, inn and the chapel.

The reason why these concepts are not accessible in instances is because they want to reduce the amount of data needed to enter an instance.

In case you didn't know, when you enter an instance the game is literally saving your character and transferring it to the instance servers, think of it like teleportation in Star Trek but instead of destroying the origin body it just leaves it there as a placeholder.

So you basically have Character Data A and B, A is your server data and B is your instance data, upon completing the instance, data B replaces data A with anything that might of changed.

What they wanted to do is reduce the amount of data they need to send to the instance, aka no 70 inv, no commode and no access to Ensemble, that saves them a lot of data and allows them to introduce this system into the game.

And honestly, 200 slots is more than enough to glamour with, you just have to be smart with what you choose. Pick gear that you think is hard to regain and gear that you like. Don't put lv 18 gear into the commode unless you really want to use it but also keep in mind that if you need to discard to make space, start with the pieces of gear that are easiest to obtain.
