Can't change character class to scholar

I recently tried to change my class back to scholar but giving me an error that I need to be an arcanist first which I am.

I think your weapon is the problem.
I guess it is a ARC/SMN book you have equiped? If so you can't use it with SCH and change to that job.
Get a low level book with ARC/SMN/SCH and you should be fine changing.

In general you can't change to classes/jobs you have no weapon they can use.

Did you accidentally remove your or are missing a book equivalent to your level?pre-set for the job? normally if you have the stone just place it and update with a lower level book.

As stated in a previous post, the issue most likely derives from the weapon you are using. You are trying to change jobs but you do not have a compatible weapon equipped. Try equipping something that is compatible with a Scholar (as designated with SCH), then try to change the job. See if it will let you.

If you can change to ARC, then do so, then equip sch soulstone, then save the gearset. You can fast select it after you do this and save.

Please note that Arcanist is abbreviated to ACN, & *not* ARC, which is for Archers.

Why can't we get a more accurate error message then? The OP's error message in the game doesn't say anything about weapons, just that the class needs to be ACN, which it is. Wouldn't it be better to have:
To equip "The soul of the Scholar", you must first equip a weapon designated for Scholar.

Changing the weapon did work. While I was leveling, just changing the stone seemed to do the trick but I guess with level 50 class specific weapons, that changed.

Unfortunately, I can't really answer that as it was more of development choice as opposed to something the Support Center has control over. On the bright side, we were able to to figure out a solution.
