Returning Players Event conflict?

So here's the thing. I have invited two IRL friends to the game with the in game invite system. I know they PLANNED on returning to the game, just after they were in a better position to play, both financially as well as time wise. HOWEVER. Currently there is ANOTHER free return promotion going on for FFXIV in the month of December through January, and so I have a question about how these two events running in tandem with each other will affect their return.

If they log back in to the game will they be playing under the one week invitation I "sent" them through my in game friends list? Or will the system only give them 4 days through the free return log back campaign?

If anyone in the community knows the answer, or on the off chance a Dev reads this post and has the time to answer, I would greatly appreciate a response, on my friends' behalf.
