What ever happened to Ishgard Housing?

I swear there was talk about this last expansion, but it never happened? Seems like a missed opportunity and one that would likely resolve issues with lack of available housing plots if it were implemented.

The problem is SE caved into the players giving them personal housing, when in reality it was only meant for FC's originally. Because of this it created a massive shortage and people now are whining about the mistake they made. Adding a whole new housing area won't help much, it'll fill up in a manner of minutes, just like Shirogane did. Also I believe the 30 day no login for losing your house is suspended currently.

while server issues are a thing, the main reason was lore based that ishgard does not have player housing.

This is not true. The original plan was to add Ishgard housing after the Dragonsong War, so the lore is there now. But instead of developing Ishgard housing they had to develop apartments instead because of the serious shortage of plots. By the time apartments were done SB was already well on its way so it made more sense to develop Shirogane because it was another thing they could market with the expansion and it's an aesthetic that's drastically more different from the existing 3 areas.

short answer is they didn't want to spend the dev resources to do Apartments, Ishgard and Kugane housing all at the same time, so Ishgard got cut.

Months later and I'm still hoping for the Coerthas log cabins.

I just assume the housing area got totally obliterated in the last Dragon attack

WoL killed Nidhogg because he burned down our mansion.
