SQEX Token on Android
Tldr not buying antiquated apple phone to have a SQEX Token.
SE's software token has now had issues on unrooted Android phones for 2+ year now. This has started with the Google Nexus 6p, the Pixel and now the Pixel XL2.
I have an iPhone X work provided, but in all honesty I like my life separate from my job. I prefer an Android phone. Since it has been an issue for over 2 years now, and having to rely on hardware tokens; would you consider working with Google Authenticator? There has to be another way, and apple put out some major crap on it's latest release. I can't be the only one who feels this way.

I have had the SQEX token on my HTC One M9 for about 2 years and I have not had a single issue with it

I've also been using the Android version without a problem, on a few different phones since it came out (April 2013), although I appreciate that doesn't help you OP :(
Looking at the list of phones you've had problems with, do they all run Android Nougat (7) by chance? I might be imagining it, but I'm sure I read somewhere about people having problems with that and this application. Either way though, if that is the case it needs to be fixed, we'll all get to Nougat eventually. I'd certainly like it if they moved to Google Authenticator though, much easier to use it on multiple devices then too!

I'm on a Pixel and I've had the software token reset back to registration 4 times now in a month. It's gotten really bad recently, no idea why. I did a factory reset after the second time and it's still happening.
