the result of my crafting abilities has been highly unpredictable for the past week or two; if this is intentional: WTF!?

so, I use basic synth on an item that has a progress bar of 300 and I get 150 progress, so I work on quality. I get quality up as much as I can, and I have one move left (5 or 10) durability. Basic synth = %100 efficiency = 150 progress. I use basic synth and get 100 progress.

should basic synth be alternating between %100 and %150 efficiency?

in this picture the numbers are different but the idea is the same becasue 173 ~= 1.5*115

this happens on a variety of classes and equipment.

I'm pretty sure that's due to Whistle While You Work ability. At a stack of 9 it boosted your Basic Touch from 115 to 173 and according to the screenshot remained at 9 stacks for the rest of the craft. You got 'good' quality there at least twice, and on one you've used Precise Touch as well.

From the screenshot you provided, I see that you are using the ability "Whistle While You Work", which may be the cause of confusion. This ability will grant +50% efficiency to your progress gain and synthesis actions when your whistles are at a multiple of 3. Can you please confirm that this only occurs when your whistles are a multiple of 3? (3/6/9).
