I have a question about the retainer boost potion. One of my friends has started this game as a machinist and skipped all the beginning stuff to start at Stormblood. I assume this means he will have access to retainers too -- but since he will start as a MCH, will boosting his retainers make them also start as a level 60 MCH?
He asked me and I had no idea because I leveled mine the hard and free way :D
First of all, unless I'm missing some new info, you can't start as MCH. You can make new character, use boosts and then do MCH quest (that requires lvl 50).
Not that it matters in this case anyway. The only interaction between your class and retainer is their level cap. You assign their classes/jobs regardless of yours. I haven't used retainer boost myself, but I imagine it simply gives them levels of their current class or job, so, again, players current or starting class has no meaning. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
Yes, that is what he has done. The level boost to start in Stormblood and automatically bypass everything else (he'll go back and do it as he has time, but we wanted to be able to play together). I just wasn't sure what effect that would have on the retainer.
