Cannot talk in Linkshell chat

I have encountered a persistent bug in game over the period of the past week. I can no longer talk in LS chat. Re-starting the game does not fix the issue. Changing LSs does not fix the issue. Resetting the chat log settings to the default did not fix the issue.

When I try to type something such as:

/l Hey guys!

Nothing happens, I do not get any type of system error message, but what I type does not appear in the chat log. No one else can see what I type either.

When I go to the linkshell tab in the main menu, the game does not register that I have a LS equipped. When I choose to equip a linkshell, I get the system message confirming that I have changed my active Linkshell, but I cannot access the linkshell menu functions (such as display members).

I apologize for the trouble you have been having with the linkshell chat. The thread was moved over to Technical Support in the case it's a minor tech issue. If the issue cannot be resolved through help from here, we will be happy to submit a bug report in regards to the problem.

Does it work if you log in from a different PC? If not its most likely a problem on the server where only a GM or SE support can help you.

I tested that yesterday on my laptop, and I can confirm that the game functions properly on my laptop. So it is just on my normal PC that I cannot talk in LS chat.

You should try the usual stuff then:
-Move the ffxiv folder inside your documents/my games/ to desktop and run the config again
-If that doesn't work a complete reinstallation might be necessary
-Run a checkdisk as ffxiv seems to have the habit to break the filesystem

Hmm, just tried your suggestion Coldfire, no dice. I still can't talk in LS chat after moving the FFXIV folder out of /my games/ to the desktop and running config again.

I guess at this point the only really recourse left is a reinstall ><
