No, not another smn hype or hate thread - just wanna talk about stats after 4.1. : )

Hey there,

i lately followed the worlds first grps on their Bahamut-progress and analysed some gear/stats of the top fflog smns. I noticed a slight difference in stat priority I am used to follow referred to a lot of reddit and similar threads for weights.

Most of the top smns have a fair amount of det (around 1000-1200) paid by less crit - dh still the main dmg stat though. On average they look something like that: DH/Crit/Det/SS | 1900 | 1470 | 1260 | 850 | (some of them are using vit accessories for progress I guess so I don't consider vit-melts at all for this example)

I guess holding ss as low as possible is still a thing like in HW just without a certain cap for the extra ruin. But like I said im lost when it comes to det... after SB release all the tests and theories were about a balance and a breaking point between dh & crit. like that thesis if their amount hits 3k+ = crit > dh. etc.

So i was playing around with ariyalas-tool to see what else could be interesting. My main is currently in o4s progress (which is paused for fc shinryu farms atm) - so I calculated without the book & armor parts. I came up with some different builds which might look interesting on paper but for the fact im playing on ps4 I haven't parsed and compared them yet nor will I most probably have the time/chance to do so all by myself.

yet I know I was talking about raising det somehow but also ss got my theoretical attention although we nearly don't have any cast time for hard casts at all anymore... we won't benefit in the matter of casting itself but I wonder how much impact high ss would have on dots and more important while Bahamut is out for his WWs... (in best case even with Asts arrow card support...)

tldr: 1st question: how relevant is det nowadays compared to crit (in progress/endgame) and 2nd are there any smns out who go with a complete different build? And if why do u do so? (doesn't matter if raider or casual pve player)?

My thoughts :
First : now more than in HS, and with the exception of tanks, not getting to item level 338 or above for the sake of secondaries is rarely the good option. Main stat and WD crush secondaries.
Second : about SS. casts are 50% of your damage output, dots are 25%. So the theoretical multiplier on global damage from SS is only a combination of half the one on GCD and 1/4th the one of DOTs. In other words : theoretically, SS still trash.
Third : det is interesting, but gets a bit trumped over DH and crit. I'd avoid getting under 1200 though.

Kinda your current build with DET and SS reversed, also best weapon.

Edit : btw, there is an excel tool to compare sets made by mad Marx from theory jerks. Don't have the link here but it's called "gear stat calculator", maybe if you look it up.

thx for your input :) - yeah i kept something like you said in mind but therefor i need to continue progress and get the book & armor. Without knowing when we will move on this is more about stats for getting there. But it seems like a good final tier build if u have all the stuff available. :3

edit1: so the most dmg output will be generated by either dh=crit > det or dh > crit = det - trying' to keep ss low (or at least below 1k) in both options hmm?

just wondering why there is so much ss on the current endcontent caster gear if neither RDM nor SMN need it at all... is it all about Blm? : /
