Low-health CDs like Assassinate are a cool idea, but not well-executed

As the title says. It's a cool idea to have these skills where you're about to kill something and this button is there to help you get closer to it. However, I feel like they could use an extra element to them. Something like how Mercy Stroke and Ageha work, there's a bonus you can get if you secure a kill with the "finishing" attack. A heal and a kenki boost, respectively.

Thoughts?

The odds of securing a kill in anything that matters more than leveling is rare. The low-health CD is an extra dps boost for most classes to help you to "Finish Him" (said in Scorpion's voice).

Lots of people do dungeons/POTD/FATEs, not everything has to be about raids. Adding a little bonus for a kill makes sense, really, and won't break the class. It's just a neat little thing to add.

Make it like Soul Survivor, where it inflicts a debuff that lasts for 10-15 seconds. That way it doesn't need the be a finishing blow to get an effect. For NIN, this could mean it refreshes your ninjutsu recast, for Ageha it gives a 50 boost to Kenki.

Ok sorry. Using the executes on adds and giving you a bonus from that isn't necessarily "bad" design, but it doesn't mesh very well with the rest of the game's mechanics. That's part of why they removed Mercy Stroke and why Sole Survivor is more successful. I agree with the above statement about the "FINISH HIM" because that's part of the subtlety of the "end of the fight rush"; having to deal with one more off-GCD.

I don't do raids but it still rarely applies in dungeons, fates, or PotD. Someone will beat you to it if you wait for the 'killing blow'.

Yar, pretty much this. I hate the bonus on Ageha 'cause gettin' it ain't fun. Potency is nice but not enough ta be a killer, so ya either lose out on usin' it when ya want or try ta wheedle somethin's health down low enough ta get it. Not great. I'd rather just use it when it's up for the ten kenki, since if you hit it an the mob dies ta an autoattack before it goes off ya don't even get that. Nice shite there lads.

I'd love ta see the bonus for killin' applied every time, though at a reduced rate of course. Turn it from the awful KB shite ta just a straight bonus for gettin' em that low. If they did that I'd love to see the love spread then aye, like a little extra ninki for assassinate and maybe a song proc for bards? Who knows, anythin' that makes buttons more fun is good in my book.
