My retainer just hit level 50 and I'm wondering how to change her class to SAM or RDM.
I believe you have to get the retainer's level to 50 before being able to assign them either of these classes (correct me if I'm wrong) but there's no way to tell without resetting class and I didn't want to take that risk just to find out I'm mistaken and have to have to start all over again.
So yeah, do I just reset class and then choose RDM/SAM?

Did you already pick a job for them? I'm guessing so otherwise you could just pick RDM/SAM now. I'm afraid only way to change the job after you've already picked a job is reset and level it up again.

go to the retainer vocate in any city, one of the options tells you what jobs each class turns into. If you already gave them a job stone you cannot change it without starting from lvl 1, if they are still a class though all you need is a "modern vocation" which is from the same guy who tells you the class to job
sam and rdm you need to take a class to 50 just because there are no weapons under lvl 50 for them -
