Direct X fatal crash error

I just started playing this game again about a month ago and after about a couple of weeks i started having these Directx 11 crashes. Couldnt even sit for like 5mins and i crashed. I have restored this computer back to factory and re-installed everything and even tried re-downloading ffxiv a few times and tried downloading Directx 11 to see if that would fix it, but none of those have fixed anything. The last time i played this game i had 0 Direct X issues and i was playing from the same computer.

seems that this happens since 3.5
usually i had those like once a week or so... but since the new patch (4.1) im having them like 5 times a day or so. its ridiculous. i even reinstalled windows and re downloaded whole game, and every driver, all the stuff. still fucked up! this is not acceptable at all for a sub game.

I've been having them any time i even try to use DX11 so i'm stuck using Dx 9 and that randomly tries to freeze on me, not that often but it is annoying. Definitely doesnt make it unplayable on dx 9 but i literally cannot use dx 11 at all anymore. Kinda sucks but i hope someone can find an answer to these issues soon.

So I'm guessing that you just started playing stormblood after you returned? If so, you may need to consider updating your NVIDIA driver.

Also I'd get an app to monitor both graphics and processor temps, and look at them the next time the game crashes.

Also are you running windows 10? If you're returning after a extended break, the creators update to windows 10 may have installed as an included update. This thing runs havoc in alot of games, including FFXIV.

Not running windows 10 creator update, im thinking it's just my graphics card and i need to update to a new one lol. it runs about 53c according to MSI Afterburner and im not even over/under clocking my card at all. I have a Nvidia Geforce 750 Ti and i guess stormblood's Minimum requirements are NVIDIA® Geforce® GTX750 or higher, AMD Radeon™ R7 260X or higher so im probably hitting that barely made it mark without even knowing it. rip

I'm also getting this error on both dx11 and 9. I've done everything to fix what might be wrong on my end and come up empty. I can't even get beyond the character selection at this point. It just starts artifacting the screen and then blanks, going back to desktop with the fatal directx error.

I'm running this game just fine on a GTX 660, which is just slightly better. I do experience some minor FPS lag in the new 24-man, but nothing huge. I'm in the weird camp where I don't update my graphics drivers if I don't need to. My current driver version is 21.21.13.7254. Perhaps you could try rolling back to these drivers? I do experience minor lighting bugs in some buildings in the game, but again, nothing too bad. Not sure if that's driver-related or not. You could also always try running a more aggressive fan profile (100% under load) if you're not already. And as a more simple suggestion, try reseating your graphics card, maybe blowing some dust off in the process. Sometimes mine gets knocked loose a little and causes crashes.
