Game crashes my laptop

I have been playing this game for over a year with no problem, but ever since patch 4.1 came out, my laptop just shuts down suddenly whenever I open the game. There is no warning or anything, it just turns off immediately.

A month ago, I did a clean reinstall of Windows 10, and I didn't have any problems up until today. Today, I've done a system restore to a week ago, made sure all my drivers are up-to-date, and reinstalled the game. Nothing works. There are no signs of overheating either. It works fine for other games, only FF has been doing this. I don't get any error codes since the crash is instantaneous, and I can't find any dump files. I'm at my wit's end and really don't want to format my laptop again.

Any help would be appreciated.

I would be interested to know whether or not you can run the FFXIV benchmark tool, since game changes, updates ect won't reflect to this tool. It's the same now as it was on release so if it is something with the 4.1 patch, you should be able to run this. if you can't run it, then likely it's not an issue with 4.1.

Yeah, my computer can't run FFXIV anymore either since the patch. It doesn't crash my laptop, but it won't load any areas anymore. I just keeps saying that it's encountered an unexpected error(17).

I've tried a lot of different things, and nearly bricked my computer but nothing works.

My best guess is that there's some kind of incompatability between FFXIV and certain video cards.

What do you run? My computer has a GTX965m.
