After finishing 4.1 main quest. Anyone feels like they are pulling an amnesia/reduce to child state like card for our great step on me waifu?
"it's better to bend with the wind than stand tall and be broken." ... or whatever were her words. I think she is faking it.
i kinda got the amnesia feel... or that maybe shes falling for gotsetsu since despite trying to kill him hein and us he still took care of her and hasnt been cruel to her... the first real acts of kindness shown to her...
I feel like it would be a major disservice to her character for her to have such a sudden change of heart and nature. I would not be entirely opposed to a redemption story for her but I dislike the idea of her becoming shy and submissive given that she's a victim of physical and sexual abuse. It would feel rather distasteful.
I hope that she is faking it, awaiting the right time to strike and attempt to see her vengeance through to the bitter end. It would certain align well with all of her previous speeches regarding vengeance. As it stands, we don't really have any antagonists in the spotlight as of the end of 4.1. At least not any that are close at hand.
Hm....on a side note we should probably be spoiler tagging this. It relates a bit too directly to the end of the patch.
I personally believe that something like that has happened to Yotsuyu, although it's quite possible that she might be faking it. While there are definite reasons not to like such a plot idea, I do think that it has some merit in how it would relate to the themes of Stormblood. Namely, the themes of the Thin Line Between Justice and Revenge, and how Circumstances Create Villainy. The relation to the first is obvious. The Doman people will be faced with a great struggle on what to do with "Tsuyu". Do they murder her for something she can't remember? Is she still responsible for her actions? Should they throw her in jail or try to trick her? What are they to do in a situation like that? It presents a challenge far more difficult than a mere evil invader or rogue agent. It defines the fate of a nation, and how they'll approach other situations in the future. Something tells me she wasn't the only Garlean Sympathizer, or even spy. The second them s approached in a slightly more abstract manner. It's a clear theme in Stormblood that circumstances define how people develop. The theme was even described by Arenvald (who I love in this patch btw) of all people. If we take away those circumstances (IE memory loss) is Yotsuyu still spiteful and evil? Were her nation less apathetic to her concerns would she have become the same hateful woman we know and loved?
That's the question, and it might be what the writers are going for.
Iam calling for amnesia or something alike, yotsuyu strike me as a woman who will never act childish whetever she's "open up" to someone or not, especially with her current previous attidute.
At best if she labeled someone as her true friend she will still act high and mighty but, in a more friendly tone (read: tsundere)
Basically she is like your typical rich friend who always think she is the "MC" among your group, and if someone telling a story/topic, she will have the "greater version" of it to tell.
Honestly i wish she will appear more in the future story, i find her more interesting compare to fordola despite their story is closely similar.
I think she's regressed to a child like state. I'm glad shes back and I do think she is one of the more interesting SB characters.
Also can her original outfit float through the sea and find it's way for me to wear, thanks.
Yotsuyu seems to have been stricken with amnesia (g-gasp!). That's how it seems to me. This is an interesting thing to do, as it essentially gives her tabula rasa - a blank slate, colored only by her inborn nature. "Tsuyu" is, well... Yotsuyu minus the painful past that shaped her, meaning who and what Tsuyu becomes is entirely up to her experiences and how others treat her. It's a very interesting predicament, because it raises many questions... chiefly "Should Tsuyu, who does not remember Yotsuyu's crimes, be held to account for them?"
... I don't think so. The Domans, on the other hand... well, mob mentality is a real pain in the ass, and even though Yotsuyu will have figuratively died they'll still want vengeance. We also know the Alliance... doesn't seem to share this philosophy, as if my memory serves me correctly they executed the creator of the Black Rose poison despite him being amnesiac or driven insane by guilt (one or the other).
I'm interested to see how this develops.
The real question I have is, why didn't Gosetsu just go to the Sekiseigumi or EATC office for help? He befriended the former and the latter should know who he is...
Amnesia would be a reasonable explanation since she was shown to be unconscious at the end of 4.0
For all we know, she could have been trapped underwater in Doma castle for an extended period and suffered oxygen deprivation in the brain.
