A friendlier, more helpful community? Or more of the same?

Does anyone else foresee a friendlier and more "constructive criticism" style of forum community on the horizon? With payments, will it reduce the cynicism the forums have accumulated with players upset they purchased the game, didn't like, and only stayed because it was free?

Or do you see the the same style of "I didn't get what I paid for" mentality?



Personally I feel more invested in helping new players, providing guides and content outside the game, and telling people about FFXIV. Mostly because I feel anyone still playing after payment begins, is at least a "little" invested in the same things I am.

I subconsciously think maybe some of the people only stuck around and complained because they "could".

How do you feel?

Yes and no. Many will leave which should clean it up a bit. However its human nature to complain about things.

Many of the people we have that complain now don't seem to even play the game while its free. So wouldn't surprise me to see them pay to complain.

I am hopeful that the "I shall never be satisfied and I hate this game" crowd will be silenced and that only then will the people who actually enjoy this game will have their voices heard. We still need to complain about things we don't like in the game but after the trolls are gone the devs won't have to pick through their posts to find our suggestions and complaints.

I'm still going to be an elitist jerk from time to time, but I'm also excited at the prospect of less trolling overall on the forums.

Too many useless QQ threads, too few quality posts that provide relevant information/guides/opinions/suggestions. I almost feel like the NA forums are toxic to the improvement of FFXIV, just judging by how much more baseless QQ-ing goes on here when compared to JP forums.

Just wait until Feb. when all the unpaid accounts go inactive and the forums really clean up.

It'll also be really interesting to see how the threads/posts change when only the people who are actually paying and staying active are the ones posting. To those who pay and log in once a month to troll the forums: cool story.

Honestly I just hope all the threads that attempt to send us back to square one disappear. Such as ones trying to change the battle system again.
