Do not understand DRK.

I know I know, brain dead class. Hear it everywhere. I have however been using Bard since Beta portion of FFXIV. DRK is first class I have attempted at since.

I am struggling with the skills and Crossbar set up. I currently use the 24 slot Crossbar and am looking for a good set up for DRK my BRD is smooth with my setup, DRK seems to be clumsy and I feel kinda all over the place.

Any advice help will be greatly appreciated.

My layout's more so for 8-man content where power slash combo isn't used as much, but you could remedy that by making another set that has it on there without special access.

This website provide pre-made controller layout ideas. Try looking at some of the DRK ones. He may be able to get his URL back to you.

Basically:

Unmend -> Plunge -> Dark Arts Power Slash combo -> turn off Grit and pop Blood Weapon -> spend rest of fight doing Dark Arts Souleater, with Dark Arts Carve and Spit on priority, mitigate with The Blackest Night when possible, and always Dark Arts Bloodspiller without ever capping on Blood Gauge.

As far as lay out - This won't help you as you are cross barred. I won't go into depth on how you should be playing your class as it depends on the situation (Dungeon / Raiding) but you want to lay out so your cool downs are accessible and that Dart Arts is easily reachable as you will be using it a lot.

I group my combos together, my aoe's, my mana buffs, and my cool downs.

As far as flow - Dark knights are in a weird spot. It's very button pushy and speedy. But a lot of fun. (Design i'm sure)

My tip is to put Your souleater combo on an intuitive place, then fill the cross hotbar with skills as you want them (except the power slash combo). Then you make a second hotbar and copy the skills just as they were on the first except replace the souleater combo with power slash.

At least thats how I have done it so my "combo" will always be the same three buttons no matter which combo I am doing. Just tap right shoulder button once to change between the combos. The rest of the skills should stay the same.

I can also add that the fourth button on my combo cross is Darkside so those four buttons combo+darkside are put on the most easy to reach place on the whole cross hotbar on the right side so I can move and press them at the same time.
