New Players Teleporting from Shirogane Housing

With Shirogane housing in the horizon, a concern was brought up. Obviously, anyone who joins a free company will have access to the FC house, being able to teleport to it. However, if they haven't unlocked passage to a housing district, they cannot walk freely out of it, and instead need to teleport away. That's not much of a problem for the districts in Eorzea, because it's easy enough to unlock passage via the housing quests, and even simply teleporting out isn't all that expensive.

However, what about Shirogane? If a free company has a house in Shirogane, we've been told that any new player, even those who don't have access to Stormblood content, can still come to the Shirogane district and make use of the amenities there. Yet, what of the aforementioned problem of not having passage unlocked? The only recourse for someone to leave is to either Return (not quite so ideal) or to simply teleport away - but there's a problem in that teleporting back to available content (read: Eorzea) will cost 999 gil, and for any new player, it seems somewhat unfair to make someone spend that amount of money just to make use of their FC house, and that's not even counting how much even the heavily discounted price to teleport TO the house will cost. It's essentially punishing new players who are welcomed to companies with a house in Shirogane, eating away at the little money they're collecting.

Is there any way to address this concern...?

Return has a 15 minute cooldown, allowing them to exchange things between Eorzea and Shirogane every 15 minutes. That's not so bad, is it? If they required more frequent visits the FC could probably given them some gil and activate 'Reduced Rates' actions.

They could also setup a free teleport location by activating the security token to their account as well. That way they can have a 0 gil cost way back.

Don't forget the numerous ways to get free telly tickets.

Truth be told, it's a non-concern issue. The problem is trivial at best. A new player would not have gotten to Shirogane housing without an FC, and as such, have a collective of people to bum some gil off of if absolutely needed (it isn't). Waiting for Return to be off cooldown, assuming it is, won't destroy the ability for someone to play the game.

Return is on a timer, and can only take you to one specific place; Reduced Rates actions prevents the use of more desirable actions; I'm not exactly familiar the numerous ways to get free teleport tickets; and the free teleport location is, like the Return, only accounts for one location. The concern is a legitimate one, after all, and not having an in-system way to prevent a new players' wallet from getting gutted when they want to make use of a house they were invited to is a little balking.

New player joins FC.
New player goes to FC house in Shirogane.
New player can't afford to teleport out.
FC takes New Player and puts them to work crafting in the sweatsh- er, FC workshop to make money.
New player gets to teleport out after they pay off the mats and housing costs.

What problem?

I think this might be a good point at which to make housing teleports free rather than just a reduced rate. That would at least let people get to their FC house without problems, and a 15 minute cooldown on returning for free isn't bad. Ever since the Return cooldown was dropped from 30 minutes to 15, I've rarely had an issue with needing it more often than it's available, and I doubt new players would either.

Housing teleport costs are already sharply reduced, aren't they? I don't think we even get charged the 999g cost if it's a house or apartment.

Let's pretend we live in a world with the return skill.

The fc likely has funds if they have a house, specially in a SB zone. If they couldn't spare 1k to get their newbie friend back to questing, they'd likely be lying.

But you see, we do live in a world with return. They can go back for free. Sure, 15 minute cooldown, but how often are you teleporting to your house to make 15 mintues too long?

No need to be condescending about it. It's still entirely unreasonable for a feature in the game to then require depending on others to make up for the loss of gil, and it's fundamentally clunky to just say "wull, you can just Return and then teleport." It doesn't matter what we can do to counteract it, it's the fact that we need to counteract it in the first place that's a problem. It's almost as bad as the fact that we have so many places to teleport to now by 4.0, and yet still only three favored destinations to make things mildly cheaper.
