Monk Stat Priority - Conflicting Info?

We no longer have a monk in our static, but he seemed to suggest that Skillspeed was pretty important to add to monk, to the toon of 1200+ in order to make demolish refresh easier?

The BIS finder from Orion X that I've been using, pretty heavily suggested Direct Hit being king, followed by Crit in most cases.

And my Samurai, who is in our static suggest CRIT is king for monks, which is why Samurai and Monk can't share gear very well and remain best melded.

Further, FFLOGS shows the top monk DPS for V1S has just a lil over 600 sks.... so obviously they aren't having issues.

So can anyone help? At the moment, I'm assuming DH > Crit > Det > SKS

edit : I know that CRIT is a big part of getting extra Chakra, but does it really male Crit better than DH, or does it just make people feel like it is?

Statpriority for monk is Crit > DH > Det > SkS

Crit over DH, because of the mechanical implementation of the chacra generating, but both are the main contributors to increased DPS.

SkS is meaningless, even with realy low SkS you are not missing to refresh demo every third "combo", also very high SkS doesn't extend this to every fourth.

Do you raid on monk, and what's your thoughts on the whole mimimum sks business?

I was raiding as MNK before switching to NIN for better support.

Crit is the mechanical stat, so it has top priority, also second highest raw damage contributor.
DH is highest raw damage contributor.
Det also improves your damage just not as the both above.
SkS is so less in damage contribution so it is mostly unnoticed and only realy worthwhile if you can reach special threshholds to fit in an extra GCD into a special timeframe like a buff duration.
MNK doesn't have such a special timeframe outside of Perfect Balance, which should hold 5 GCDs (don't know the exact SkS for this but it is very low) and that is all on SkS a MNK has to think for.

Like said before if you have enough SkS to get 5 GCD into PB you have no problems to refresh Demo and don't let it drop. But if you get to high SkS you will have to refresh Demo early and lose an extra tick of Demo and lessen its power with this or you have to refresh it late and let it drop and lessen its uptime by this way. Both means less DPS in the end.

I have to point out that the reason skill speed isn't valued on any of the current bis finders is because they only account for the damage increase on auto attacks and ignore its effect on rotations.

It's because of the composition of the team. The more forbidden chakra you have, the more crit/dh will be important. So if you are in a full physical team, it's better to max crit/dh over all. If not, i think it's better to have 1200+ sks

My current MNK has about 1260-1270 Sks at i325 and it allows me to get in 2 snap punch rotations with just enough time to refresh Demolish before it falls off so it feels about right for me. Any higher would probably be a waste really as it would require melding to get it higher than that and it would cut into my Crit+DH melds so it would cut into my DPS at that point.

Don't forget that SKS effects auto attack damage, and auto attacks is Monks main source of damage. I feel that's a detail people forget about quite often.

Anyway, I have 1290sks. It's enough to make my GCD 2.0 under GL3 and for my Demolish to not fall off or clip too badly under RoF.

I have a pretty low skill speed tier right now (like 600 ss) and it works fine for me, have to be more careful for GL drop and such but it's not too bad. Unfortunately I've gotten 0 raid drops (still using crafted pants), so I can't equip all those SS items to compare the two. Our RNG chakra being generated off crits just makes me feel like generally crit is better anyway.
