Why is my routing going from Chicago> NY > seattle????

it causes too much lag, and semi frequent d/cs, menus appear slow, been trying to progress though my ISP but I figured something can be done here as well? why is it being routed like that? I do not have lag issues/ping for ffxi like I do here. ( to be clear, i live in the MAIN CITY PROPER of Chicago, not a suburb.)

I am sorry but your new server location was a bad pick.

Routing is determined by your ISP, not by SE or their servers.

It wanted an American road trip.

Not necessarily. I connect from the UK & also go via the Seattle hub. It is possible to assign a 'route' to particular services when desired & it appears that SE have requested the backbone company they've paired with to use their data lines exclusively (NTT in this case). All the hops to the FFXIV servers changed, for me, to NTT after the NA Datacentre move. Before the move I'd never encountered NTT in my traces, yet now even the London hop is NTT.
