SMN does not need Sustain back. It needs an Enhanced Rouse.

Please stop asking for Sustain back. Old sustain was 8% every 3 seconds for 10 seconds... Thats 24-32% of your pets hp... every 10 seconds. That is just awful. It is literally a GCD that will rot your DPS and the braindead SMN/SCH that think its helping.

Yoshi-P has already said physick won't be getting the INT based RDM treatment for lore reasons, and even if it did, you face the same issue. You are wasting GCDS and you have to add yet another button to your bar!

Instead, they should change Rouse. Give it a heal over time effect or a full heal. If going the heal over time effect, they should extend the duration of Rouse to 21 seconds.

That feels extremely tacked on and braindead. Heals should be something you can use out of convenience when needed, not as a natural part of your DPS rotation. Need a pet heal? Too late, you used it 22 seconds ago during your rotation.

Every time you summon Bahamut, your pet gets healed. In a 5 minute fight you can use it 3 times with optimal DPS.


SOURCE: Look at top SMN FFLOG posts for SMNs. Heres an example one. Summon Bahamut is cast 3 times

Bahamut cannot be roused, therefore, you only use it when hes not available. So with enhanced Rouse in a 5 minute fight, while actively using Bahamut you can heal your pet to full 8 times, on top of AOE heals going out from healers. I'm really not sure how you could even actively make your pet die so much. Purposefully placing in cleaves???

In open world, they need to allow chocobos to heal your pet and its 100% fine there too.

I saw pets that just got rekt like ... like a tank that forgets to block a crit hit with his cd's.

In my last 30~ runs nothing like this happend for me.

I think my key is pet control, its annoying but if you wanna play Summoner learn to control your pet.

Instant oGCD that heals for 10% every 3s for 15s or so sounds fine to my non-SMN ears.

Why was Sustain removed in the first place or why wasn't it's effect added (via traits) to Physick?

Sustain is/was asked for solo/openworld content and Titan - you actually never needed it for the dps ones - but for the tank one which without sustain is nearly useless at all. That's why people want it back and not cause they have problems with the dps ones in inis or savage.

To be fair there was absolutely nothing to lose by having Sustain to begin with. I mean OP is saying that's it's a waste of a GCD and hotbar slot, but Sustain itself could be cast as many times as you want just like Physick, there was no real cooldown to it (except 1-2 sec recast time?). It was just a Regen for your pet and a pretty potent one at that. Actual SMN DPS also wouldn't suffer if you were using the action efficiently anyway. As for hotbar space, well it's always been a matter of playstyle on whether a player would utilize all of their actions or not, but Sustain falls under micromanaging the pet so you'd kinda be limiting yourself if didn't haven't it just because of hotbar space.

The Enchanced Rouse is just a complete jumble of actions, like macroing Sustain and Rouse together unnecessarily.

My pet gets owned by unavoidable AoE, has nothing to do with soloing. I don't know about others but I would like sustain back for stuff like that. Usually the healer will AoE heal and the pet will catch it but sometimes it doesn't..I am not going to be moving my pet every second depending on where the healer moves and the party in stuff like the 24 man raids. Sure Bahamut usually heals the pet back to full but there are times when I can't get him out fast enough.

Im sorry but i can't find ANY way to get my Pet to die, as long as i say my pet where to stand ... the pet can take AOE's but i think that queens waltz like in o3s can kill it .. thats the point where you tell your pet to stand in the save area.

Ill make a video for you if you want. Ill do nothing and my pet dies over and over, ill say him where to stand, my pet is fine.

The simplest way is just say him to come to you but then dont stand 500 yards away so your ifrit needs to run 10 seconds, stand near the boss.

Best example i have in my mind, Susano and his Stormsplitter.
Tell your pet to stand behind him otherwise im sure it will die.
