Question about something that turned me off from XI

Was your personal data in game data was deleted after so long of a inactive period of billing/paying.Will this be the case with XIV aswell?

To be more clear "continuously pay a monthly subscription in order to retain their in-game characters"

I quit FFXI once and returned about a year later, but have sense quit for the final time. My data was never erased. Maybe this is something they used to have?

11 did that when the game was young

didnt take long for it to stop happening

it still says they do it in their terms of service, but i can verify they dont do it cuz my account was inactive a few years and it still was there

same here, I took various breaks from FFXI, the longest being a year, and I never lost my account. So I am sure it is safe to say no one will loose their accounts here.

my bf quit FFXI, shut down his account and everything, then after a year hopped back on it to let me play and try it out. His character and data was still there, even though he though it would be gone.

So I guess it doesn't get erased, I can't imagine this will happen with FFXIV either. (just guessing though)

They also stated that between now and 2.0 they would not be deleting character data. They want people to have the option to pay or not as they choose until the "real" game get's released. (Too lazy to find exact quote, but it's somewhere in the original release info about version 2.0)

In FFXI they don't delete your data ever. They just have a clause in their terms of service that say they don't guarantee it after 6 months but they pretty much never delete it.
