There are no images of the sheathed weapon on Mog Station. It is upside down while idle. It didn't occur to me until I saw it glamoured. Know before -you- buy.

Not really. Agricultural scythes have these weird bendy hafts with side handles. They are exquisedly engnered to swing just off the ground. Properly each one was custom made and fitted to one person.

Tbf, though, back sheaths are terrible and don't really work very well outside of fantasy settings.
Just like scythes. How the hell do you cut anything with the blade angled like that? The cutting edge just never lines up with the direction of a swing. "Here, just, get a little closer and I'll saw at your ankles while you bash my head in."
Back sheaths worked well enough for claymores and the Japanese ... I forget its name but a really BIG katana like weapon. "Clothespole" in the Samurai trilogy. Can't think of any others though.
Schthe blades were converted into glaves for war. Couple of iron straps, a few rivets, a pole, a buttspike/counterweight if you want fancy. Blade parallel with the shaft, a quite usable stab and slash polearm.
A little late, but https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/%C5%8Cdachi?
Anyways, scythes don't work because the blade is curved towards you. All you can do is a reaping action and you're placing yourself in danger. Glaives still have the blade facing forward.
Firstly, I'm wearing armor that was copy-pasted from FFXI and my intent was to look like a FFXI DRK. In that game, this is how scythes are worn by DRK.

After 13 years of looking at DRKs wearing scythes in this manner, I still say the scythe is upside down.
Additionally, I am sure that an image of a sheathed scythe was intentionally left out off the product page. I know that DRK sheathes its weapons upside down in XIV. As I said originally, the sheathed position didn't occur to me before I glamoured the scythe because I was more focused on how exciting it was that DRK would finally have a scythe.
I posted the image so that maybe one person wouldn't waste their money like I did.
