New to Monk, advice appreciated

I've recently picked up Monk as of 4.0, and I really love the job. It's not my main job so I was wondering if anyone could offer me any advice stat wise and rotation wise?
Here's a picture of my attributes currently, I've thrown materia into gear where I thought it would fit, any advice is welcomed and appreciated!

Well Monk is pretty straightforward. Without knowing what you're doing it's hard to know if you're doing anything wrong, but the main solution to most monk DPS issues is...

Yeah this. A lot of people play very hesitantly on monk due to the plethora of positionals. As a general rule, a missed positional is better than a missed GCD. Never be off the boss longer than you need to be.

Try your hardest to make sure Greased Lightning doesn't fall off (Form shifting to the 3rd stance or Riddle Of Earth will help out a lot in different situations where you can't be attacking something), make sure Dragon Kick/Demolish and Twin Snakes are always on and reapplied whenever their timers are low or just after they wear off, and weave in stuff that's not on the global cooldown (Elixir Field, Shoulder Tackle, Fully Charged Chakra, etc.) in between your normal weapon skills. MNK doesn't really have a specific rotation because your combos aren't confined to specific sequences like the other DPS.

You want to have at least 1283 SS and then go for Crit + DH. 1283 Skill speed are needed as i recall to refresh demo perfectly.

Have you got a link to your melds?

Well, i have made my own set (ilvl320) with omega normal and crafter gear, because monk is not my main class and i use savage or 330 tomes gear for my healer(s) at the moment. After this i'll gear my bard and then the monk will get some love. So keep in mind that this set gives you just an idea and is not optimal. Also i didn't always use VI or V materia and overmelded fully, despite them being used in the link. That said, i'll add one of the sets an good monk told me about :)

BTW If you do progress you want VIT melds for v3 and v4 savage in the right side, instead of the crit VI materia, if you don't have around 38/39k hp already. Also this sets depend a lot on the available gear you have and what you want to use. Do you want to use the limited tomes? Do you do savage? What floor are you currently on? And so on. Those questions should all be considered, but what i've heared from a lot of monks is that you want to go with at least 1283 skill speed to refresh demolish perfectly and don't loose dps. After this go for crit, since monks really depend on it and then go for dh. I would recommend to answer the questions for yourself or ask main monks on the forum and then use the site to do an good set, which you think is good enough for your purpose :)

Just got home from a party and my english is not perfect, so bare with me. Anyway :D

SS does increase your dot dmg, althought it doesn't make it shorter, since dots are bound at the server ticks every 3 seconds. Additionally and more important in this case, after a certain amount of SS you get into an new tier, which reduces your global cd timer and as a monk with (at least) 1283 ss + 3x lightning stacks, you get an gcd of 2.0 seconds and then you can refresh demolish perfectly. If you have less speed, then you would lose ticks of the dot and if you got much, much more you would refresh demo to early and loose ticks aswell. Of course you could say missing 50+ potency depending on your gdc tier/skill speed isn't a lot, but over the course of a fight this really, really adds up and imo is in most cases not worth it. For instance after 5 missing ticks of demo you would have lost (in theory) an forbidden chakra so to speak without doing anything wrong yourself. I hope this was good to understand, but if you got further questions pls ask :)

Btw: The monk 340 bis has an gcd of 1,99 for example, which is close enough and a trade off you sometimes have to make, if the other stats you gain, increase your potency more than an slightly clipped demo would reduce.

Go critical hit rate and direct hit. SkS is ok. Det is probably mediocre if I were to guess (monks AAs do a lot of damage and det does not boost them).
