Sectioning off a portion of a large house?

Here's a strange issue that I never even thought I'd find myself raising...

I recently bought a FC+mansion because I needed a large basement to use as a set for the recording of machinima.

My plan was to put up a row of partitions to prevent any FC members who weren't a part of the machinima from peeking in and being able to spoil the next episode as a result.

However, not sure if folks know this, but there's a "feature" of housing in that, if your character runs in place against a placed object for 2-3 seconds, the game will temporarily give them "noclip" and allow them to pass through anything for a few moments after.

I'm sure this was done to ensure players wouldn't get stuck and I understand that, but it works entirely against what I'm trying to do.

This desire for privacy could also apply to any number of other circumstances. If you want a section of the house to be private for WHATEVER reason, I'm not sure it's possible.

Ideally, I'd prefer to not need to make the house inaccessible for lower level FC members for the duration of recording, but it starts to look like that'd be the only real option.

Does anyone know if there's a way around this?

Also, on a separate issue, is there a way to remove a player from your house if they're inside it? Not that I've had need to do this (yet), but it seems like it MIGHT be a necessary feature.

Unfortunately there's no way around it. As you said it's that way to ensure people don't get stuck (and I can assure you you can get stuck on just about anything from experience!). There's also no way to forcibly remove someone from the house once they're inside that I'm aware of.

grr, so much this. I have a house in The Lavender Beds. I frequently get stuck in the bit between the light and the fence... can't jump out (basically the roof of the area I'm in is the head of my character, so I jump but gain 0 height), can't move because of walls. Do you wanna know what the best is? I'm considered outside of the estate so "noclip" doesn't work... nor can I teleport to the front of the garden, etc. I have to use Return, pay to teleport, or ask a GM for help. EDIT: Before anyone suggests Aetherial Manipulation, Rescue, et al. They don't work either.

Have you tried multiple layers of partitions? No idea if it would work, just a thought.

Maybe set a rank in your fc that has house access, then set everyone else's privileges to restrict even entering the house? I think there was a lot of drama at some point on my server because someone held fc members hostage. They couldn't enter the house to destroy their rooms, and the fc leader refused to remove them.

I did, thank you, but it's the same deal, though: the player acquires "noclip" for 3-4 seconds after having been "stuck" running in one place for multiple seconds so they can proceed to walk through anything for that time.

Also, I didn't even KNOW about this layer of madness until recently. When it comes to relinquishing a house (or moving it, I assume), THIS can happen:

Yikes...

That's a scary side effect of locking people out of the house. :\ Did a GM intervene to help?

But yeah, I figured I'd just lock the house before recording for a bit, though people standing around AFK would still be a problem.

I really don't remember how the rest of that stuff went down. But I hope your machinima works out! Post some here when you make some!
