PLD BIS? Help!!!

so simple and clear I have researched but can't find anything solid is there a proper number crushed BIS for pally? or it's a simple as critical build vs tenasity build? I want to organize my gearing options to know what to spend on what but I can't decide if I want a tenasity build or a crit build.

more specifically I was planning on getting anything with tenasity from 340 and melding direct hit while avoiding sks or the other option was to get anything with crit and meld direct hit but idk what build from the 340 set is better overall or is there a mix of tenasity and crit that I'm not aware.

The pentamelds are better for offense and the 340s are better for defense. Pick your preference; both builds will perform well enough to clear all the things.

Yes, they are. But depending on your commitment to pushing the job's DPS, this is highly optional.


The logic behind this is that the increment in Str (ie. = DPS+) from 320 accs to 340 accs is just a +2 Str per accessory, meaning that your main DPS stat only increases by 10 points by equipping the 340 accessories. The upside is that they offer more Vitality, and thus, more HP, but the HP increment is pretty low, sitting at around 2-3k from equipping all five 340 accessories. Coupled with increased Def/MDef from 340 left sides, this extra 2-3k HP is more or less useless.

320 accessories have the advantage that you can pentameld substats onto them, so by pentamelding one VI materia and three V materias with Direct Hit, you get a better damage increment than by equipping the 340 accessories.

How big this increment is is largely dependent on your own skill and your group's playstyle, though.

Thanks for the information. Gearing up nicely it's just weapons holding me back now. Is crafted 320 better than Susano's?

Both are pretty meh. The crafted one should be better because you can pentameld Direct Hit on it. At the end of the day, though, I wouldn't lose sleep over it. I've been using Susano's just fine ever since Omega dropped and I'm pulling around 3.1k on both O1S and O2S without being capped on Direct Hit.

Has anyone now figured out if getting the most crit is bis. Trying to figure out if I should buy and upgrade tome pants or not. After I buy the last 2 acc that I need.

On another threat I came to this conclusion with another user and I decided for me that the 340 alternative are BIS I don't care much for the mininum amount of damage gain you get from 320 pentameld.

so if we put a base od 4000 overall dps the difference in sets will be

Crafter 320 4096
Raid 340 4020

so the difference will be a mere 76 points? points that could be achieved by optimizing roations in the middle of the fight to squeeze more dps, sure someone with penta acc will be able to rank up avove in the top 10 fflogs but all that and at the cost HP and overall less base main and substats and 10kk+ gill sink. I'm really torn in what the community call these days BIS for tanks, I'm aware the dps meta left a big stain in our community but this is some extreme I can't comprehend, min/maxing is important but 90% of the tanks in this game wont even be able to use that extra 76.

I can see this situation if you have the money to burn and wont get your full 340 right side anytime soon then you can blow it and be done with it, but at the same time I'd harldy consider the crated set bis, but otherwise if you aren't top raider aiming for world/server first I don't see why anyone with their mind would waste so much money in such a insignificant return.

so to get back at OP I don't think the crafted 320 piece being BIS is not that big of issue as you and many others make it out to be the I think SE wasn't balancing these crafter pieces thinking the overlass census will be to blow 10million gil but at the same time I'd agree that raid acc should have more str attached to them for anyone else if you don't have the money or just are not rushing to get your right side just go the 340 route IMO the hp helps liviate healer stress and smooth fights.


TLDR: the difference between 320 vs 340 is a mere 1.3% dps difference, which unless your name is on the top 10 fflogs it doesn't really matter or make any signiciant change at the cost of huge amount of gil depending on the server and overall less stats including hp making it harder for healers, but if you have the gil and no you are no were near on getting the 340 alternative is a quick head start. So it all depends on your preference and urge to have a quick bis. How effective each set is is insignicant as both are pretty much on par with 320 having a small dps gian.
