Crafting materials inventory tab

I think it would be great to have a seperate inventory for crafting materials, since with the huge number of crafting mats required for all the crafting jobs, it can easily fill the entire expanded inventory we now have, just to be able to craft basic high level stuff for each crafting school.

Even with 2 full retainers, there's just not enough room for it all.

Whether there is room or not on two retainers depends upon what else you have on them. I've got one retainer that is borderline full (bounces between 160 and 175 slots filled depending upon my materials usage and Venture materials refill rate) with nothing but SB materials, and another that holds the few odds and ends needed in SB crafting from HW/ARR. I foresee that retainer getting the bulk of the stuff for the starred recipes when I move into those, but that second retainer has maybe 30 of the 175 slots filled? Plenty of room for expansion.

The trouble comes when you try to overstock your retainer (do you really need that third, fourth, fifth, sixth, and seventh stack of Molybdenum Ore?) or when you try to load the retainer up with other stuff in addition to the crafting materials.

I understand why this doesn't exist in our regular inventory but I sure wish it did. Even if it were just a page on each retainer set aside just for mats (in addition to what we have now), it would help. I do a LOT of crafting and hang on to most mats because I run an FC and an LS for helping new people get going in the game. Anything that added crafting materials inventory would be great!

I just want them to sort out the glamour system since at the moment all of my mats are being sold to clear space for storing even more situational gear and unstorable things I cannot replace. I just sell anything I'm not currently using for crafting. If not for all of the glamour, I think there would be enough space on the default retainers for anyone not trying to run a well-stocked library of materials.

Would be cool, I remember guild wars had a tab for crafting mats.
It's not gonna happen in ffxiv though, cause if they did that who would pay for additional retainers?

Got four retainers myself, this is how SE makes there money and aslong as we don't have a choice it is not even going to get looked at, this is expansion number two, the only reason we got a small increase is because of the two extra jobs we got. This has been the biggest complaint amongst the crafting, gathering and glamour player base since the beginning in ARR, across all regions that is. Sad indeed but SE likes subscription based stuff there CEO in a interview he said he sees the future for gaming as a paid service from game development companies and not buying the product to own as a consumer .

People honestly need to stop asking for this if they haven't taken the time to read through the responses over this.

They will never do this because inventory is inventory is inventory. Basically why add a crafting tab and inventory space, they can just add that on to inventory space. A Crafting tab won't magically save space because it uses the same space as your inventory so changing the name doesn't do anything.

The truth is, when they increased the armoury chest, they should of only add +5 to that while adding the other +60 to player inventory. In retrospect, they wasted a lot of potential player inventory space since a good majority of belt/sub weapon/earrings/bracelets/necklace space can end up as dead space. They could of done 30 armoury chest per slot and added the other 60 to a total of 200 player inventory space.

I don't think SE wants to allow players to keep absolutely every crafting material possible, or even the most commonly used ones as there is simply no room unless you have at least three retainers.

I think SE want to keep the market flowing by forcing players to sell things they're not using much or buy as they need them, instead of hoarding everything they find.

Not saying I agree with it. Just saying that I think this is intentional on SE's part.
