I'm currently leveling as a THM. Does it matter which company I join, for gear and such. I've been told that it doesn't really matter, or to join Gridania for mage gear. I've also read that most of the gear for THM is in Limsa.
I've looked around on the forums, but some of the information is old. Any new input would be great. Thanks!
Best gear for a class will be in 1 GC this patch and in another GC next patch. The very best gear will generally not come from GCs either.
Join the one you like.
I believe the general idea the dev team wants from the players is to choose a Grand Company who ideals and position sit comfortable with you. It was mentioned in a previous note that Grand company items will never truly be a game breaking or decision making factor once they begin to appoint rank promotions. My best advice would be to just have fun and keep in mind that which ever company you choose, you will be under their banner for the long haul. With that in mind, you can see why it is sorta most important to pick with a group who ideals you can relate to. Happy Gaming ~
As was said above, pick the company whose ideals/music/color/whatever you like better. All companies now offer weapons for all classes, and Company armor, while having very nice and unique stats-for-that-slot, are not absolute miles above regular gear and they can't be customized with materia, so missing out on some pieces won't hurt you in the long run.
Pick the one you like the color the most. Or, of course make the intelligent decision and join the Maelstrom. I'm joking...perhaps.
