Flamethrower question
Trying to figure out a good opener for MCH and I believe to have found a good one, though it's got Flamethrower in it. I understand it's reasoning for being there, to generate heat really fast to get your first wildfire out sooner, and it specifies 'to 90 heat' so it isn't being used to force an Overheat, but isn't Flamethrower really really really bad for ST? I've seen it said that it's only use was for trash AoE packs after you've Overheated and that's it. I understand that CD -> 3 -> 2 -> 3 -> CD is the best WF; worth ticks of Flamethrower anyway?
and if it's actually not terrible for the purpose of generating heat for Wildfire, should it be done often? I saw one guy in an Omega run using Flamethrower a lot and thought he wasn't doing it right, but I might not have been correct in that assessment, in retrospect. It seems like it would be better just trying to keep your heat around 90 in the first place.

The first opener Flanethrower you use will probably be your longest one in a fight. The reason this one in particular goes to 90 instead of 100 is because you use Barrel Stablizer in your opener which tends to be our method of returning to 50 heat after an Overheated Wildfire ends, and because you will have Barrel Stablizer on cool down for your first wildfire we don't overheat that one. All this makes up for Flanethrowers bad single target damage by aligning everything nicely for the future and becomes a positive gain.
Future flamethrowers are used to push from 90 to 100 heat quickly after setting up an ideal Overheated Wildfire proc.

Sometimes you float around 80-85 heat when you're Reloading and preparing for cd323cd wildfire. That's when you want to use FT between GCD for a tick which is 10 heat.
Personally I don't overheat for wildfires at all.

That actually makes a lot of sense. Honestly, I didn't realize Flamethrower was an OGCD, since it's a button I never touch outside of dungeon trash, when I don't want to interupt it anyway.
As for the Overheating for wildfire, I didn't really plan on doing it either. The info I found on overheating places an overheated wildfire(iirc anyway) around 100-150 potency more then just not bothering, but I don't think I can pull off "perfection" just yet, heh.
It would've made a lot of sense to actually post that opener, wouldn't it? While I suspect it's nothing new to anyone here, it's as follows for completeness-sake. Thanks to Aiurily Ari from youtube for this one.
3 ammo opener
(Hypercharge) - Hot Shot (Barrel Stabilizer + Gauss Round) - Split Shot (QR) - Slug Shot (Flamethrower til 90 heat) - Split Shot (Reload + Wildfire) - Cooldown (Reassemble + Rapid Fire) - Clean Shot (Ricochet) - Slug Shot (Gauss Round) - Clean Shot (QR) - Split Shot (Rook Overload) - Slug Shot

I recommend using the 2 ammo opens instead if you're still wet behind the ears, it lines everything up perfectly for the rest of the fight.
(Hypercharge) - Hot Shot (Barrel Stabilizer + Gauss Round) - Split Shot (Reload) - Slug Shot (Flamethrower til 90 heat) - Split Shot (Rapid Fire + Wildfire) - Cooldown (Reassemble) - Clean Shot (QR) - Slug Shot (Gauss Round) - Clean Shot (Ricochet) - Cooldown (Rook Overload) - Split Shot
It's minimally less potent, but it will keep things clean for you and you won't need to delay anything later.

(Edited about 32323 combo)
About Flamethower, you can also land it to gain heat during boss invincibility parts as you will be in fight.
You can also just keep it as an easy way to get Heat back if you died with Barrel Stabilizer on CD.

Wouldn't the second slug shot in that be unprocced? Unless I'm missing something, that's slightly weaker.
CD > 3 > QR + 2 > 3 > CD
CD: 230
3: 270
2 + ammo: 255
3: 270
CD: 230
Total: 1255
3 > R + 2 > 3 > 2 > 3
3: 270
2 + ammo: 255
3 + ammo: 295
2 + ammo (no proc): 125
3: 270
Total: 1215

Forgive me, I was tired as hell and just thought about it on the moment... (as I said before I edit it, I didn't test it on the moment^^") I was even surprised I didn't think about it earler or anyone else. So yes, of course it doesn't work ^^"
Thank you :)

Alright, thanks guys, this'll help out my damage once I get used to it.

The opener you're looking at is likely the going around in MCH circles. It includes 4 ticks of flame thrower to bring you to 90 heat. THE ONLY REASON FOR THIS IS TO LINE UP WITH NINJA'S TRICK ATTACK IN RAID. it has nothing to do with overheating.
