With UI3 reducing the cast time of flare is it a DPS gain to transpose, bliz 3, bliz 4, flare, flare?
why do you need the transpose? doesnt B3 automatically put you into UI3?
Im pretty sure the current aoe rotation is this
bliz 3, thunder 4, bliz 4, flare, flare, convert, flare, transpose, bliz 3, bliz 4, fire 3, fire 2 repeating
I find its an aoe loss to use flare without convert up and thunder 4 is a must for aoe rotation now as a proc is SOOO strong for aoe damage.
This rotation could be wrong but its what i currently use.
It's actually not a DPS loss to use flare than transpose without convert as long as there are 3 enemies still. B3 - T4 - B4 - F3 - Flare - Flare - Transpose - B3 - Repeat.
Once you get up to 5 mobs, its fine to add in 2 Fire 2s. B3- T4 - B4 - F3 - F2 - F2 - Flare - Flare - Transpose - B3 - Repeat
The B3 is unnecessary in that rotation, though. Since UH flare uses 2/3 of your mp and the second uses the rest it shouldn't matter how much mp you generate between cycles. You can transpose into B4 into double flare with or without B3. The only benefit would be the reduced cast time of the first flare. Conversely, if flare also benefits from the 1.8x AF3, would it be even better you transpose> B4> F3> flare> flare?
My understanding is that at level 68 or higher, F2 is always a dps loss except against a massive number of enemies. If there was no AoE thunder then F2 would sometimes be useful filler, but, well...
Umbral Hearts need to give you some kind of stacking bonus per time you spend any number of them, so that F2 F2 Flare is as rewarding as it is intuitive.
I think the number i saw with data to back it up was something like 11 mobs made F2 useful.
So, got around to doing the calculations and it looks to me that using F3 before the first flare is a huge pps boost. The current rotation is wrong.
I generally do B3-T4-B4-F3-Flare-Foul-Flare-Transpose-T4-B4...
It can be increased by Convert-Flare-Mp pot-Flare against huge numbers of mobs or if a lot of them are still standing after the first rotation. Keep in mind to pop some hate reducer if you go quad flare.
