Can someome give me a good explanation on Glamour-ing?

I'm a huge fan of 'transmog' and any system like it as I'm a bit of a fashionista but I can't quite pin down how this system works. Let me explain what I do understand and somebody who's really nice can fill in the holes for me?

So you have an item you like the look of. You buy a 'prism' that matches the quality level of the item you want to glam, then you select the item, hit glamour, then from the list pick the item you like the look of, then presto? Do I have this right? Does this mean I have to keep every single piece of gear I like the look of in my inventory...?

Yes you'll need to keep the item if you wish to glamour it again.
You have it down. Though if you're somehow confused just... go glamour something lol. It's easily undone or glamoured overtop again.

Sadly, yes atm you have to keep any items you find ( that you wanna use the look of ) for glamour.

Why i think many have asked for a glamour log ( or something like it ) where items you have used for glamour before gets added too ( then the item could either be consumed by the log on use like a "wanna add x item to glamour log?" item will be lost on accept.. or sold to npc or discard. ) and just pick the item from the glamour log if you wanna use it again at some point.

Sadly all we or I have heard back is "server/data base can't handle it" or some other BS..

think you got it (Prisim used is named after class that can repair the item who's "Appearance" you wanna use, as long as the "Appearance item" is a) equal or lower level then item being "Overridden" & b) can be worn by the class that shall wear this "Overridden" item) & yes u have to keep the "Glamouring" item/gear... I sujest dedicateding Retainer space (Maybe 1 whole Retainer) until we get a Glamour Log... which I doubt we will

Yeah but I just dumb them in my retainer inventory... three of which carry my galmours yikes. Also it sucks that if you have a white mage, astro and other heal classes, you can't glamour astrologian gear to show up on white mage and vise versa. It sucks.

One bit that might be outdated is the "You buy a 'prism' that matches the quality level of the item you want to glam" bit. I might not be 100% since I'm not big into the mechanic myself, but I do believe that was phased out not too long ago, and now there's only one usable "quality level" of prisms. They just simplified the whole process instead of having to figure out which level you needed. I think.

I quite like the class-locked gear personally - but from a storage point of view very annoying, I agree.

Yes you need to keep the glam gear on you, that is why this thread exists:

Some misinformation in this thread.

No you don't need to keep the glamour item on you, you can even toss it if you so wish - and the glamour will retain.
However if you ever wish use the glamour item again, to glamour a different piece in the future, you need to keep it to go through the process all over again.

Most people just store glamour gear they like from dungeons etc in retainers.

As for the "quality" of the prisms, Hasrat has the right of it.
They removed the varying "grades" of each prism - just have to match it to the craft of the gear now. So if you wish to use a glamour item that's made/repaired by leatherworker, you buy a leatherworker prism.

It is not misinformation, it is having a different interpretation on what is implied for the bolded on when people say you need to keep the glam. You go though gear like water so if you want to keep the look, telling someone keep prisms and the glam gear in your inventory holds true.
