Custom quests...
This is a suggestion for much later, after they've rooted out the basic problems and got the game into working order, but... Wouldn't it be awesome if players could create custom story quests? They don't have to be based in the main story or anything; you just use some kind of quest making program that allows you to build/manipulate NPCs and events, much like those classic RPGMaker2000 programs. And every month or so you can have competitions or something, with the best being featured quests that are advertised by official NPCs. Rewards would be calculated by the program based on the objectives of the quests.
Alternatively, a GM is given the ability to make Live Quests that play similarly to a D&D game. Plays out much the same way but with far, far more player interaction.

Creating your own "Instanced" quest would be cool. Not sure how that would work though.
