I'm just not getting the Samurai hype, what am I missing?

I'm sitting on my 62 Samurai and thinking I might have to go level up a monk or something else as it's just "popping" for me, EVERYONE seems to be enjoying it though and I feel like I'm missing something.

I leveled it all the way to 62 because I was told the 2 abilities at 62 change the class dramatically but once I got there I was dissapointed.

The rotation seems incredibly slow still with the long GCD and ramp up compared to something like NIN. I want to like it because it's aesthetics appeal to me but it just feels so slow and methodical with little to know decision making.

AGAIN I am only 62 on mine but Im feeling a wave of disappointment so I am switching back to NIN for now, maybe MNK, I bought into the SAM hype and don't really have any back up mains.

What am I missing?

Continue onto 70 and you might enjoy SAM to it's fullest.
However, if you're just not feeling it at all, perhaps the job isn't for you?

You should prioritize putting Shifu up, it's Samurai's huton. I personally enjoy the kenki and Sen management of the job.

I feel like it's almost there, I don't mind the rotation and I find the resources to be fun its just all so slow right now. Maybe Hagakure will change this? At this point I don't like or hate the class, it feels playable and if it was slightly faster and more involved I could see myself enjoying it.

I do Kasha, Gekko, Yuki for the rotation.

A lot of people have been wanting a melee DPS sword wielder that dishes out a lot of damage for quite some time. For many, NIN didn't provide that since technically it uses daggers and the running animations aren't to everybody's tastes.

SAM improves immensely around 64 onwards once you start to fill the kenki gauge quickly and can weave in more OGC abilities.

At 70 you have access to everything and by that point you can literally use abilities to leap in and out of the fray as needed so long as you have kenki and manage your cooldowns. Timing your third eye ability is important, too, as that gives you an access to either a small heal or an additional OGC attack. Weaving those in with everything else can be a lot of fun.

Hagakure does change things up a little bit. I find myself in constant decision-making mode when playing it at 70, as while it's very free-flowing and somewhat forgiving because of that - it also means it's very adaptable which forces a lot of on the fly decisions. Even your openers have to be very loose and malleable depending on potential early downtime. I see many people on here boast about it being super easy, but I couldn't disagree more - it has a huge level of finesse that's hard to attain (the range of performance I've seen is huge). I find the "slowness" / minimal weaving to be welcome breathing room personally :P. That said, it's not for everyone, but if you're still curious / really want to know you should take the time to level it all the way I'd say. That said, hagakure is the only maaajor piece of the puzzle left to get a feel for how it will ultimately be, and while it's possibly not as significant as the 62 milestone it might add the layer of decision making you're looking for.

You need to level it while listening to anime intro songs to get a proper feel of the hype.
