Possibly the cheapest 2* Melds?

Hello everyone,

Been playing around a bit with Ariyala to find optimal melds for crafting 2 Star, and came up with this meld which features the following:

- Non Specialist
- Zero VI Materia
- Zero V Overmelds
- All Triple Melds minus 1 Single Quad
- Requires Scrip MH Tool
- Food: Tempura

This gives you min craftsmanship and control, with 513 CP with Tempura, or 526 with Tempura + HQ Tea. This also allows you to quad meld to get more CP as desired, with up to 8 more CP available if you want to quad meld (minus chest which would require penta). You can also change the quad meld from chest to Bracelet, Earring, or Necklace for the last craftsmanship so your CP overmelds are only quads.

If I made any mistakes, please let me know

Hopefully this comes in handy for some of you here, as it will definitely be my path for melding.



EDIT: Based on overmelding percentages, the following materia would be needed:

9 x CP-V (Exact) (+7 for other 7 OH)
8 x Control-V (Exact)
30 x CP-IV
31 x Control-IV
29 x Craftsmanship-IV (+ 70 for other 7 OH)
3 x Control-III


Due to this list, you can do the level 68 and 70 quests for each craft job and choose Cunning for the 68, and get all V materia you need for these melds for 100% free, with 8 Competence V on top of it to sell to buy some of the other materia.

my melds are very similar (grade V in guaranteed only) but using IV's only as first overmeld and then using dirt cheap (free, really) grade 1 and 2's (and a handful of grade 3) after that - no yellow scrip tool either but can be upgraded to it without having to touch melds later on. Depending on Grade IV prices, yours could end up being cheaper (red scrips easy to farm too)... or if grade 1's and 2's are not available (I get most of mine free from Ixali)

If you don't want to pentameld grade 1's in the 5th slot often times you can just upgrade a grade 2 to a 3 with these melds in the same item

That definitely works well as well! I tried to keep it to using the least amount of physical overmelds for the stats. What I personally did was Quad-melded the remaining +8 CP, then penta melded +6 Craft onto everything but OH since I had 5 or so stacks just sitting in my retainer anyways. My current setup is now 1,347 Craft, 1,227 Control, 467 CP without any food for non specialist, so can actually craft 2* without any food outside of the low CP. I can even craft 2 Star on specialists with an unmelded level 70 MH if I wanted to.

I did a ton of red scrip farming, so personally all my melds were free, with leftover scrips giving me extra profit on top of the cost (Buckwheat Teas were only 6-8k per synth, for 41 red scrips, essentially becomes a grade V, or 16 grade IV for only 78k, and IVs were selling for 40k + ea during the melding frenzy). Pretty much leveled all my crafters to 70 using collectables whenever I would profit with the scrip materia.
