Question about materia for DRK

Hi, I main DRK but I'm confused about what materia to use for DRK, Tenecity or Determination? I asked the ppl in my server and everyone says that Tenecity is broken and worthless, Asked my FC leader and he said its better than determination and explained it to me mathematically and it turned my brain to mush. So I'm here. Can someone tell me if tenecity is broken, or explain why tenecity is better or worse than determination. It will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Pretty sure the general consensus is:

Strength* > Critical Hit <> Direct Hit > Determination >>>>>>> Skill Speed >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Tenacity

* Tank accessories are not capped on STR, you can meld into this.

There's some debate about whether Direct Hit, or Crit is better, I've heard arguments both ways; and it may be there is some sweet-spot between them to be found. Waiting on the bean counters to come back on that one.

Tenacity yields minimal bonus at least as of 4.0. Even if we ignore that tenacity is largely worthless for this reason (It's hard to see the bonus for the rounding errors) and none of the tanks want to invest into it; DRK specifically gets a not insignificant amount of health back via life steal, and life steal is proportional to your damage dealt, so increasing your damage dealt directly yields much better survivability than trying to stack tenacity through a constant stream of leeched health, nevermind the straight up DPS/emnity increase this yields.

Direct Hit has a higher point to DPS gain than Critical Hit until Crit hits around 2800 or so, 3000 if you don't have a Bard around, I don't recall the exact numbers however but at this point the numbers are unreachable anyway. Crit's exact value changes based on how much you've got but DH is 157 for 1% DPS, Det is about 170 for 1%, and Ten is 180 for 1% at its best current estimate and 220 for 1% at its worst. Skill Speed I don't recall seeing any specific point to % rates for it.
Non crafted gear has enough slots for 520 points. Looking over the "best" and "worst" stats, permitting the full 520 used and otherwise keeping everything identical, Direct Hit gets you 3.3% DPS while Tenacity gets you 2.3-2.8% depending on what estimate you're running on. This is a .5 to 1% DPS gap. We're looking at not even a 30 DPS gap between the two at the best possible levels of play among tanks. Meanwhile there is a gap of 2.3-2.8% damage taken between the tanks.
If you're not a tank among the best of the best, and especially if you're a tank just stuck dealing with random people of questionable quality, Tenacity will get far better use than Direct Hit will. Depending on how much your healers can squeeze in with that extra bit of mitigation, Tenacity may prove better overall for group DPS, even if it's not the best for personal.
Personally I'd say go with Tenacity in gear that lacks it, and Direct Hit in gear that does.

Tenacity not feel that worthless for me. If 200 tenacity is 1%.. if you get full tenacity gear and meld everything tenacity left side parts(right side you want str ofc) you can get over 2k tenacity. 2k tenacity is 10% damage mitigation and 10% more healing and 10% more damage? Isnt that essentially same if you would have second tank stance? You get 10% better shields for tank busters and take 10% less damage from tank busters. That mean it is 20% easier heal the tanks that have tenacity?

Hey, atm Direct Hit melds has the best dps return so meld full DH on left side and STR on right side

Tenacity is actually pretty decent and people saying its worthless are wrong, its used a lot by the world first raid tanks, basically what Sunako said

Personally im going DH over TEN but im expecting this to change later tiers

As far as secondaries we get naturally on gear DET and SKS seems to be at the top for increasing dps with crit falling a little behind

well you dont get DH on the gear, can only meld so for all melds you dont wanna put tenacity in should be DH imo no real reason taking anything else.

as far as stats on gear from a dps point its Det/Sks>Crit>Ten however Ten does a lot more so i think its definetly better than crit and probably det and sks as well imo

imo you should value Crit the least for this patch, so just meld DH or Ten depending on what you feel like you want 1.2k tenacity sits at around 5.5%~6% which is pretty good
