FFXI or FFXIV?

So I finally came back to FFXIV now that patch 1.20 is out, and as far as what it looks like compared to when it first came out way over a year ago is amazing, i love it so far. The only thing I do not like, which I do not now if it is FFXIV or all MMO's these days is the reason i loved FFXI is because there seemed to be a community in it, people talked to people. I can't say that this is FFXIV's fault because FFXI seems to me to of been the last MMO ever made where people play to play with other people, why not just play a console game if you wanna play alone?
So im just wondering is there any more of a community in this game at higher lv.s? because I do understand that the only people that really play are people that are really in to Final Fantasy, or should i just wait a year for 2.0 to come out and go back to FFXI? Which game do you guys all think is more put together?

FF11 forced you to go through a lot of hurdles to get a sizeable group together in order to complete every little thing. I like FF11 but I never liked that aspect of it, and I'm currently having more genuine fun in 14 than I ever did in my years of 11. Community wise, people tend to keep to their LS's but are usually approachable/helpful. Find a LS and ask other people to team up and the game should open up for you.

What constitutes "put together"?

Entirely separate from that question, I think it's unfair to compare the two point for point, given that XI has had years to evolve and XIV is still working to get a solid foundation in place.

I don't mean more of like a put together mmorpg in content related things, i mean more like content that is intertwined with social play. Which is what I was saying now a days in every single mmorpg that i've been playing is non existent. I like to play mmo's online with people. FFXI is the last MMO I have ever played where people would talk and there was a community. I do not mean really to compare XI with XIV I was more just saying that after FFXI every single new mmo now is more driven towards solo play because that is what everyone wants, no one likes to talk or play together anymore, which i find silly to play a online game with thousands of people and not want to. I was just wondering if FFXI has a more lively community or not. And as stated before I know that XIV doesnt have a huge population and that most of the people that still play are high lv., so if there is a community is it only for higher lv. people since there aernt that many low lv. ppl? or is there no community at all?

I'm sure we will see an influx of ppls post xmas and there will be more lower lvl ppl to play with. Although the high lvl ppl will still outnumber the low for awhile. Im hoping the closer we get to v2 membership will pick up since the game is progressing nicely. Good press should help it out.

As for xi...I played that since 2005 and quit a few months ago to full time xiv. Tanaka has destroyed vana'diel with a poorly designed aby bomb and its going to take too much to recover that game. Frankly I dont see how that man still has a job at se. I see a bright future for xiv but not for xi. Also idk what server you are on but my xi server (Asura) was horrid. Give xiv a shot. Alot of the current content will disappear with v2 so you will miss out on alot of unrepeatable stuff if you go ^^

Thx MicahZerrshia that is exactly what i wanted to know, after reading my original post i can see i could of done a better job of explaining what i meant, but you seemed to of gotten it perfectly so ty, also as for FFXI i played it from NA launch all the way up to the last mini add on so i saw basically everything, except for any of the abysea, and i did hear that abysea killed the game. I hope the community lightens up on XIV i dont feel like paying monthly for a solo game <,< but ill give it a while i suppose.

You will be back in a few months when ToR gets old... so will most the people that left for that joke of a game.

What turned me off from FFXI:
1. Having to learn spells from random drop scrolls or buying them off the AH
2. The graphics look horizontally stretched
3. Dragoons have pets
4. Elitist
5. Economy is bad
6. Ninjas (unintentionally) make better tanks than DDs.

What turns me off from FFXIV:
1. Until level 25, the best way to get XP is by grinding.
2. The storyline is spread a bit thin and hardly helps in leveling up, so between each set of story content (for the mainline, non-GC story at least), it's broken up by long stretches of grinding
3. Levequests are the main source of income rather than story-driven quests
4. Crafting is fun at first but quickly turns just as boring as DoW/DoM grinding
5. Lack of social interaction

So between the two...I'd say stick with FFXI if you don't mind missing out on the chance to give feedback/experience once-in-a-lifetime content.

EDIT: Also ToR is meh IMO. SWG Pre-CU was way better :( My favorite MMO ever.
