Royal Menagerie: PLEASE DO NOT NERF

I rarely like to get involved with these kind of things, but the drama surrounding the Royal Menagerie has really been bothering me. It needs to be nipped in the bud because it's just sheer silliness.

This trial is important to me because I honestly felt that this my favourite final boss of all time. There, I said it. Best Ever.

It appears people are complaining that the final boss of a game is not a walk in the park. It is a challenge, it's not impossible. You can do it if you set your mind to it. Everyone can. You can even do it in DF with no melee.


I think we can agree that the mechanics are very obvious. Massive aoe markers, very clear. We've seen basically all of it before and everything is very intuitive to anyone who's cleared all previous content at the regular difficulty level.

So, the final boss is hard. Well, that's your rite-of-passage to the endgame content, so you should expect and embrace a challenge.

To be open, I consider myself a relatively casual player. I cleared Final Coil before Heavensward but pretty much didn't bother with Alex Savage at all. I didn't do Zurvan or Sophia either because the glamours weren't pretty enough.

I'm not saying you should know your job inside and out, but I'd expect players to have a certain level of proficiency at this point, regardless of their background. Every player has the potential to be on par, even if they're new to the game.


If you're reading this post because you haven't cleared it and you're struggling I'd say to you, don't forget the value of an epic win! You do have the potential to exceed your current capacity and it will feel great when you do it. One of the most beautiful things in MMOs is your ability to do something you never thought was possible. Don't be afraid to self analyse, to ask people for help and consider how much more enjoyment you will get from feeling confident in your abilities.

this boss is not that hard if you know what you are doing, its would be sad if SE nerf this to allow more people to do end game stuff like Omega

I agree, this battle is a nice opportunity to test people on how well they put attention and if they can work as a team. While I've seen a few complains about it being hard, not sure how they consider their reason to be valid, the reality is that by using this battle as a common sense check is the best thing SE has placed in a very long time.

If this fight is nerf I would say that all content in this range is also nerf since its about the same level of challage

Cleared it, hated it, won't run again. Have fun.

As I have said in other threads on this subject, this fight is a great raid awareness check for people. The fight is fine as is and arguably should remain at this level as a check for later end game content that in theory will be harder.

Do I feel it should gate the main scenario? No, but it does and the fight itself is fine. Should it gate end game content as a skill check for basic raid awareness? Absolutely.

Should make more duties like this one, this is the ffxiv i know

i will say it again in every thread about this fight, it is not matter of hard or not
the only problem this fight have is the people impatience and possible latency/FPS drop
the latter is unfortunate and could only hope a fix from Dev hotfix
the former is the biggest issue i have see in not just this fight but very dungeon/ex trial/alliance raid/any group content

if i will the richest person in FFXIV if i get 1 gil every time a player quit a content after 1 or 2 wipes

so my common on these fight are always the same, new players be patience and learn the mechanics, and veteran be patience with new players, we are all new player once

i did this fight with a minimum ilvl party yesterday and it was fine the only gripe i had was jumping from platform to platform was strict on the diagonal and i know from doing the kugane tower climb the jumping is terrible in this game causing me to fall off the platform due to my and the games error. a one shot later and a clear from me and i can not fathom why this was hard i have no problems with it.
