Anyone find it weird that...

On PSN, Square Enix sold Heavensward up until the release of Stormblood, but didn't explicitly say that Stormblood included the first expansion tacked on? So, if people bought Heavensward right before Stormblood was released, they would be out about $20-$30, considering that Heavensward comes included with Stormblood.

On another note, what happens when you already own Heavensward? There's no option for a standalone upgrade to Stormblood.

Returning friend came a week before SB and bought HW for 17$ so he could level bard from 50 to 60, a few days later, SB came out and happened to contain HW aswell, so he lost 17$ :D

Isn't this what happens in most games with expansions?

Bought WoW a couple of months back, Legion, all previous expansions included.
It would make little sense to be able to buy SB without it including HW, since storyline leads you from one place to the next...
And in a couple of years, assuming SE will keep the expansions coming, any new players would, what, have to pay that value for every single released expansion to play the most up to date content?

The option for a SB "standalone", well, doesn't really exist I'm afraid :/ Sorry for your friend, but I don't think he'll be able to do much about it...

They really should've thought this through and pulled HW before Stormblood's release. Or at least considered reimbursement.

There was the option to contact, but by now, it's too late. Plus the hassle of getting someone involved with that section.

They kept it up because you couldn't do the HW content until SB released if you didn't own HW itself, so it gave people the opportunity to buy it before SB so they could get the content done and be ready for SB launch.

It was a good excuse to charge $40 for Stormblood without people throwing too much of a fit. Realistically there should have been a $30 upgrade option, done entirely through SE Account Management, to let existing players with all content upgrade for a bit of a discount.

HW coming with SB means you would not be able to play until SB came out so if you bought HW before before SB came out whether it be a week or day before you got what you paid and was able to play HW content right away without having to wait for SB to release.

What do you mean didn't explicitly say? We knew Stormblood would have Heavensward included.
