text search function does not work properly

I have tried all commands and made sure capitalization etc are all correct and I cannot find myself or friends standing right in front of me using the /search or any variation of that feature. I cannot search by class or any of that either, all turns up no results. If I go to Social>Player Search> Search Conditions, that will work. ONLY the text commands show no results.
I am wondering if this is because i am an american, who lives in America, playing on Fenrir server(Japanese Datacenter/Server). Could this be causing the issue?

Just logged on a character on an American server and it worked 100%, so I guess I figured that out :/
