bump to the very top, can't stop won't stop!
Are you trying to glamour it onto a < lv42 weapon? One of the rules of glamour is that the target has to be at least the same equippable level or higher than the glamour itself.
i was attempting to glamor it to a level 60 scholar book
The item seems to be classified as an "Arcanist's Grimoire" according to this tooltip: https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodes...m/c10d086f191/
Meaning that the game probably will not allow you to glamour it into a Scholar's Codex, even though it is equippable by both jobs at the appropriate level. Dumb, I know, but that's probably the issue you're encountering. Good way to test would be to attempt to glamour a level 60 SMN book to see if it works. If it works for the SMN book, but not the SCH, then you know the classification is preventing the glamouring.
Grimoires are primarily used for SMNs, though. Codex usually for SCH.
If you look at the names of the differentiated weapons.
That specific classification of “Grimoire” is probably what is preventing the OP from glamouring it onto a Codex.
If you look at the First Lieutenant weapons, there is a “Gridanian Officer’s Grimoire of Casting” classified as an “Arcanist’s Grimoire” and then a “Gridanian Officer’s Grimoire of Healing” classified as a “Scholar’s Arm.” The former also uses the ACN icon, where the latter uses the SCH icon.
Funnily enough, and probably unrelated, but if you look at a character’s search info, ACN is directly above SMN for class —> job, and SCH is off on its own, like the extra jobs. Again, it’s probably unrelated, but the fact that the weapon is called a “Grimoire” and “Grimoires” are used by the SMN job where as SCH uses “Codex” is probably why it cannot be glamoured onto a SCH book. Just another reason why the branch-off of SMN/SCH from ACN was poorly thought out and implemented.
