lvl 60 3 star rotation on 4.0 (request)

Hi everyone.

I was trying to craft HQ ironworks gear for my gatherers and noticed that the Byregot's blessing was heavily nerfed. Now the rotations I had are kind of useless.

Does anyone know how to HQ 3 star items when crafters are lvl 60? I kind of suck at experimenting (and it is really expensive).

After more research I found out the the penalty for getting HQ on crafts that are above your crafting level is currently applying to crafts that are the same level as your crafting class. This is insane! It must certainly be a mistake!

Starred recipes are treated as higher than their base level, so at level 60 you will be treated as a lower level than a 60* recipe. That's why you get the (now significant) quality penalty. I think 60*** are treated as equivalent to level 63-64, so either level up a bit or add Ingenuity II into your rotation before BB.

Not a mistake. Star recipes are supposedly harder than regular ones.
ARR 4 star recipes are identical to level 53 recipes in Heavensward.
Where as ARR 3 star recipes are approximately between the difficulty of that of level 51 and 52 Heavensward recipes.
I would assume Heavensward star recipes would be of approximate relative difficulty of their Storm Blood counterparts as well.
Just simply level up your crafter classes! That's the easiest thing to do. Personally, I do enjoy the challenges of taking on higher level recipes though.

HW didn't add this penalty to quality gain when a recipe is above a character's level, meaning a lvl 50 was still able to craft a lvl 50 4-star recipe at the difficulty it was before HW.
Sure, just leveling a craft by 1 level to remove this penalty, but that doesn't leave the fact that this change made these recipes harder than intended.

I'm not sure whether it's really a mistake or if they just didn't care that the balance was changed a bit. SB so far doesn't seem to have any semblance of balance. I'd say master crafts at 60 are both simplified and harder depending on how you look at it. What we do know is that the difficulty is harder than level 63 at level 60 because quality requirements are not adjusted to be consistent.

I'd say it's harder to craft from 0-100% now because in HW, your only real shot at a fairly consistent 100% was by pushing more touches just like in ARR, which meant completely optimizing your use of CP. A mere 11 or 12 touches was insufficient. Spending an extra 32 CP would result in you being forced to use fewer touches.

However, for a rotation which used fewer touches in the first place, using ingenuity 2 now seems to give you higher quality than before the penalty (the scaling is different than before; ingenuity 2 increases quality significantly even at level not just if you're under level. by my calculations, gs, inn, ingen2, byregots should have given 7600 quality in HW but now gives 8200+ at level 60). So the result is that it's harder to craft from 0-100% most likely but much easier to get a consistent 85-95% using a really simple rotation.

This is a form of watering down because as I said, SB reduced the quality requirements...

I'm happy your finding it easy to 100% HQ your normal recipes. However the quality penalty will be big for the future lvl 70 3* and 4* recipes. And for the 4* recipes its highly likely that Ingenuity II will not provide much bonus at all simply because the recipe level will be too high. Just 1 IQ 11 BB probably isn't going to cut it.

To OP. Just level to 61 and all your problems will be solved. You'll get a massive bonus since you'll outlevel the recipes you are doing.

I think it could go either way. I'm hoping that everything is this easy just to ease crafters into the system as a form of a reboot before providing harder recipes. It could also go the other way and this could simply be a form of lowest common denominator design: an easy system that accommodates crafters at all skill levels, gear configurations, and class configurations (like how in potd, party composition doesn't matter for the regular levels anyways).

I'm not sure whether ingenuity 2 will provide smaller bonuses for level 70 3* and 4* crafts. At 60, we can see that ingenuity does provide a huge boost for all master craft tiers (8200 for me with ingenuity and innovation and gives 7900 even while crafting a level 65 recipe at level 60; that's a reduction of ~150 quality per level). They would have to boost recipe levels significantly to negate the bonus. To make things harder, I think they have to significantly increase quality requirements and/or progress requirements.

I think changing the quality penalty serves 2 purposes: simplification is one but it also gives single class crafters who might be stuck with byregot's miracle a way of buffing their finisher as well using ingenuity 1, which is also very powerful now.
