Although they're a strong DPS class, I feel like they're the worst of the casters currently in terms of single target boss fights such as the new primals. They still dish out deeps but as new primals and raids come out, the limited mobility class gives absolutely nothing to a static group compared to the other casters ( res, dmg boost, etc ) while doing a little bit more or even just even damage along the other casters.
They destroy all other classes in terms of AOE though.

Blm is highest single target dmg out of all the casters though (not by a little or equal), and i would say 2nd overall in dps after Sam.
Problem is fights are less favourable to blm like you mentioned Primals but as players learn the fights and reduce amount of movement the numbers will go up -

Like I said in another post. Knowledge is BLM's best friend. Once we get the fights down, our numbers will go up damage wise.

It's strange. Foul is actually broken, in both single target and aoe.
But many things irk me.
It feels clunkier- for one, your rotation is set. Its F4x3>F>F4x3. Before, you could do F4>F>F4x3 or F4x3>F>F4 or F4x2>F>F4x2 depending on whether you needed a proc straight away, or could delay the AF refresh for some movement (as in, no mechanics for 10secs but then you had to run around). Further, you could B3 off an AF phase on a 2secs timer and you'd be fine- now, you better cast that B3 at 3 seconds or any tidbit of latency makes the game freak out and you drop Enochian (so the 13 seconds extension on AF and UI was probably to account for this). These two together compound so that no amount of speed/planning/mastery of the fight lets you use procs very comfortably.
Before, a slow mana tick was a nuisance- if you had 1~5 points of piety in your Relic and got a slow manatick, you'd have Blizzard as a filler instead of Thunder (assuming no Thundercloud in the bank). Now, you go for F4x2>F and pray for a Firestarter proc on a slow mana tick, or you lose a F4 from the rotation.
Plus, my Sharpcast goes into a Fire now (so I can do the 6x F4 thing more comfortably) instead of Thunder, which means less Thundercloud over the course of the fight. Thunder 3 having a longer mana cost and cast time is a bit of a nuisance too...
These two make it feel... clunkier? I feel like I have less "freedom" in what I do and how I approach a fight. And the way I'm shoehorned into doing it feels worse.
I think Foul/Polyglot and the Umbral Heart mechanic are pretty cool. I like them a lot.
But then there's these negatives... so I like and dislike it.
A lot of these woes would be fixed if SE would just give us 600 more base mana at 70 (since piety is a no-go now). We wouldn't get stronger now, I just wouldn't need to struggle with server ticks. I got used to waiting for them accurately, but 1/10 times I still mess it up and it just feels bad. Plus, even if it's just 0.5seconds, waiting while casting nothing or deliberately not weaving an ogcd just feels bad... -

BLM is in a good spot but I just tried it in PvP and it feels 10 times better. Anyone else wish a lot of the PvP specific gameplay was carried over?

Currently i sit at susano with 3.6k - 4.1k(if im lucky with crits) but it doesnt seem as great compared to a couple of select classes, seeing as though it brings zero utility. I just wish the DPS was buffed a little bit such as bringing back the 20 potency lost on fire 4 to make it the top caster role in dps.
