Unlikely, it would just mean all players would be unable to play the game for a week. The only server with an issue at this point is Balmung.

If they went down a week. A whole cry for compensation would rise. And well with that SE would do so. But I doubt it would work as you want it to.

The backlash would be massive.

Having the servers shut down would not help - except maybe by making some people leave the game altogether.
What would happen if they did shut down the servers is:
a) Nobody would be able to play during that period
b) Extra long log-in queues when the servers came back and everybody tries to log in at once
c) Lots of very annoyed players

Shutting the servers down for a week, especially before Omega and Savage release, is a great way to utterly destroy hype for your expansion.

You might not have a problem, but everyone else would. A lot of us already lost a lot of sub time because of all the mess that's been going on. the back lash would be real. That's another 7 days we can't play and compensation should be pretty hefty and a must at that point.

It would be a annoyance but other then that I don't think I would be bothered by it too much, I personally don't feel like any of my time has been wasted or lost sub time. My life in general keeps me from playing the game as much as I want not SE.
