GTX 660 vs GTX 960

I'm currently running the gtx 660 oem 1.5gb and was thinking about upgrading to the gtx 960 2gb. Has anyone made a similar switch? I'm not really sure if it will be worth the $200+ and would like some input on how much of a improvement it would have on this game. Please note that ram and cpu are not an issue. Thanks for the help.

Personally, I'd save up further for a 1060 or 1070.

I would love to get a new 1060 or 1070 card but that is not currently an option. It's 960 or nothing sadly.

If you're going to spend $200, just get the 1060 or a 1050 TI. Better deal for the money performance-wise. You can even pick up a 1050TI for around $150. Or, just save up another $150 for the 1070. Weirdly, it seems GPU prices have jumped a bit on Amazon so you may need to wait for them to creep back down, or try another store.

Short answer: 960 is miles ahead of the 660, and would last you a couple to a few years. $200 feels expensive for a 900 series when the 1000 series is in the same price range, but it's not entirely unreasonable, and you will notice a drastic difference.

A little bit of both. Only certain cards will work with my setup and I was able to get a 960 for a good price. A 1060 would be double the price where I live and a 1070 is out of the question.

For anyone wondering where I live gtx 1060 are going for around $400 and gtx 1070 around $600. I might be able to get the gtx 1060 to work with my system but I think I would rather use that $400 for something else.

I'm not sure why, but it seems the price on Graphics cards shot up within the last 24 hours. The MSRP on the 6GB version of the 1060 is $239 USD, and was the listed price yesterday on Amazon, yet today that same exact card is $450 USD. I have no freaking clue why this happened, but you might better off waiting. The 960 will be a huge jump for you, it just seems like a steep price to pay when the 10 series cards are (typically) so close to that price. You might also look into the new AMD cards. The 580 offers comparable performance to the 1060 for around the same price.

On the issue of compatibility, can you elaborate a bit? Outdated architecture? CPU? PCIe slot issue? low Wattage PSU? It might be a good idea to provide some specs on your current build anyways since a CPU or other system bottleneck would limit the effectiveness of any new card you might get.

Thanks for the info I haven't looked at gpu prices lately so I had no idea.

A new 960 would normally cost me $300 but I can get one for a lot cheaper which is why I wanted some input. However after looking into it a bit I might be able to make the gtx 1050ti to work. How does it compare to the 960?
As for the compatibility issues, I didn't want mess with any of my parts atm, I just want a card pop into my existing system and go. I'm not going to be able to afford a card that would bottleneck my cpu either.
